Absolutely agree. I’m not saying there shouldn’t be a formal political party who are far left in their core ideology, nor am I saying that there are not supporters of The Green Party or indeed The Labour Party, who are far left with their beliefs, but neither the LP nor the Greens are Far-Left Political Parties.

Little to no detail of the men arrested and released on bail is known. Bail is not a discretionary process. If someone has a legal right to bail they must be released on bail. Restrictive bail conditions are the only discretionary element.

There must be appropriate grounds to remand to prison which can be challenged by legal representative in police custody and then in court if not appropriate- thereby risking the whole case falling apart.

The initial report of suspicious activity triggered a full scale response, as it was close to Fairford airfield, that was hardly surprising. Those responsible were arrested on suspicion of explosives, none were found and they were bailed.

It has yet to be explained what those 5 men were doing, fuel drums were mentioned, it could be innocent, or criminal intent. Whatever it was they will think twice before doing it close to a sensitive military base again

Crikey- speculation re Bail v remand to prison ever recurrent.

Bail is not purely discretionary! Courts and the police must grant bail unless a specific legal exception applies.

Bail can be refused if there are substantial grounds for believing the person would for example:
1) Fail to surrender to custody- i.e. abscond
2) Commit further offences while on bail
3) Interfere with witnesses or pervert the course of justice

The prosecution and person's legal counsel can make bail applications then determined by the judge within the law.

Bail arguments in pre trial hearings are not usually published so as not to prejudice trial proceedings. So some people speculate in support of LC and Tommo for example in comparison to an asylum seeker that has been granted bail. They dod not know the detail of the bail applications or reasons for judges refusal!

Lucy Connell and Tommo's lawyers had the right to appeal judge bail decisions. LC's chose not to and to date Tommo's KC has chosen not to. Both LC and Tommo treated in exactly the same way as any other person- the law is the law and applied to all without fear or favour.

I was reacting to the complacency of believing that progressive ideology was not far left. If Reform can be called Far Right with you all agreeing? How would you define Far Right? and why is it any woman who stands up for women's rights is labelled Right Wing? Don't confuse ideology with the chance of political parties being elected. Russia has been backing progressive anti West ideology for years as useful idiots and fellow travellers. I worked with the CPGB for many years. I was an early follower of woke I published woke editions...until the Stop the War was taken over by The Muslim Brotherhood for instance twenty years ago. To ignore the threats of Islamification to our society is naive.
Back to the RAF Fairford shambles...no idea...looks like incompetance at many levels. Why insist many households were cleared with minutes notice when no sign of any explosives had been made? overreaction? Noone staffing security phones...Would fuel stealers have five vans to steal fuel would they be stupid enough to steal from or next to high security Air Base? Why has the farmer not been interviewed? is it just a series of incompetance?

Always best to be safe than sorry re local households- don't need any specific political ideology to see the benefit in that 😊

My Labour MP Alex Sobel says he does not want bigots voting for him. He publicly defies and denies the Casey repot and condones transgender therapy for children as well as male self identified women be allowed in womens prisons, sports etc. He calls anyone disagreeing a bigot. I have for the first time in my life been disenfrancheised, as women always used used to be. And the deputy leader of the Green Party Mothin Ali is a local councillor whose wife appears in full niqab. I f you do not support this you are right wing...apparently. That goes much further than the old left used to. Even Mark Steel who was a Wolfie..in the SWP... is against this false belief.

Has that explanation been given by Police? I have been working since 7 a.m so haven’t heard.
The only things that made any sense were: some group like Palestine Action/ an extremist group/ a group of criminals.
There’s plenty of crims stealing red diesel from farmers along with farm equipment.
