Just under 1 month to go. At it isn’t looking good for Trump.
What is to do?
Well, for a start for the first time in decades he has refused international oversight of the elections.
And so it begins.

I just want to remind people here that it is some Senators and Congressman that is up for election . Trump is not . Nor can he ever be this is his last term .
Hopefully, the Democrats will regain more Senate And Congressional seats to tip the balance of power back to the Democrats .
That is true, but in a way it's clear that Trump himself is acting as if it is all about him. (And his current close regime?). ^He has to "win".
Whereas previous presidents, tho disappointed, saw it as possibly par for the course, that their wings might get clipped in some way, but still, soldier on etc etc.
Yes, I think that what people are hoping is that Trump’s wings are clipped to such an extent that he is prevented from his oh so damaging actions both home snd abroad.

Watching Jeffrey Sachs it looks as if you’re in for a hard time.
If it meant that only his supporters suffered, so much the better, but justice doesn’t work that way, does it 🤷♀️

I’ve just watched this reel.
I can’t believe what I’m hearing 😱

What i can't get my head round is the amount of money that is being spent on ads promoting the candidates. Musk has given over 200 million dollars to the Republican party and most of it has gone to support Paxton in Texas. What's he expecting in return? Well he's already had about 38 billion in govt loans, subsidies and tax breaks in the past 20 years so he probably feels it's a good investment! However, basically one man is trying to buy the senate seat in Texas. IMO it absolutely stinks. I so hope that Talerico wins because his campaign is being funded by thousands and thousands of individual donations. Anyone who thinks it's OK for UK parties to receive millions from one person should look to the US to see how potentially corrupting it is.
I am literally preparing for civil unrest here. Stocking up on food and water so I don't have to leave the house for long periods of time. He is not leaving the compound he built willingly.
Here is what is happening as of right now.
1. They have already sued to throw out Alaska Senate race if the GOP candidate loses.
2. They are sending ICE agents out to "monitor" pools. They have actually sent "monitors" to polls in a county in my state as it has one of the seats that will determine power in the Senate.
3. They have already thrown chaos into California's elections. They presented them with a list of 25,000 voters whose citizenship was in question, files. Lawsuit and gave the state 2 days to determine who on the list were citizens. So far, nearly all of the people on the list have been citizens. They have asked a judge to isolate the ballots. This is ongoing, so no resolution yet.
Their plan is finally coming out I to the open. They are going to bury this election in the courts and we won't know for weeks, at best, what the results are IMO.
Also, all that money is the result of the Citizens United ruling by the Supreme Court of you want to research it more.
Guess who was involved in that ruling? The Heritage Foundation judges, Alito and Thomas.
Thanks imaround. What corruption. I do hope that civil unrest as you fear does not erupt.
Me too. It seems almost unhinged to be doing so, but one thing I have learned with MAGA is, anything is possible. Even the most strange, incomprehensible ideas are not too much.
They have spent 40 years gaining power. They aren't going to take their ball and go home in defeat quietly.
What a horrible worrying time. Would the army/national guard/ICE rebel do you think? Might they realise that Trump is unhinged and his plans profoundly unamerican?
Judging how Trump reacted after Republican losses that ended his first term in office- we know what is possible.
I know it's only mid terms but his personality is fixed and public favour loss severely damages his self image.
Keep posting, imaround. x
That short video shows democracy in the one place in the world that claims to be its master, crumbling. A "how to guide" - and to give most of Europe credit despite pressures, democracy will hold as best it can.
Vance's criticisms of Europe are risible.
What I do wonder, imaround is how long the armed forces will just bend and follow Trump. He loses control of them..yet each man and woman in those forces are human beings too, with families affected by cuts in medical care and rising food prices and so on.

I've been wondering about that, imaround.
Given your, to our British eyes, rather weird election system (based on the speed of a horse making a west to east coast USA journey with the results?) newly elected representatives won't be taking their seats until 20th January. Trump has plenty of time to organise an insurrection before then. After all, he so very nearly succeeded last time...
Very worrisome indeed.
praying for you, I'm around.
Oh yes. Please keep posting imaround

I fear that Mr Trump, and his supporters, would not accept any unfavourable results with dignity.
If things do not go the way he wants ( which looks likely), then I foresee much mud slinging of the " fraudulent voters", " we were robbed", " miscount", variety, with potentially unpleasant consequences for law and order.
Mudslinging I can live with, actions as we saw in the GE Trump lost to the Democrats would be unthinkable!

I think you’re taking a very sensible course of action and I stand beside virtually, as do many other Brits.
Keep on posting please and keep yourself sane and safe
It is so frightening to see how the US is losing its democracy right in front of our eyes and nobody can do anything about it.
I fear for you imaround and will think of you and yours as the midterms take place.
As others have said keep posting.
I will say, I have not given up on Democracy in the US. To my detriment probably. I also do not feel unsafe right now. But we all have been around this planet enough times to know that living like it is 1900 and having food storage for the winter isn't such a bad idea. Even my can opener remains electric free.
My grandmother was born on a farm in the Depression and grew up during WWII. I picked up some smart living tips from her along the way, so I am just adding a bit here and there to my already stocked pantry.
The NG mostly will not follow orders blindly in the case. They remain under the control of the Governor of their respective states. Washington DC is a special case and I can't remember what it is right now.
On an off note, DC has taxation without representation. Maybe they could throw Trump in the Potomac. (Joking reference to the Boston Tea party.)
ICE agents have no such qualms, and that is who he is sending to monitor polls. They have already killed citizens and non citizens alike. Amongst those hired were Jan 6th Insurrections and those who couldn't pass a background check elsewhere.
imaround Thanks for the link. Your system is so different from ours (UK) that I'm really at the kids' level of knowledge on US politics, who gets elected and how, so this will do me fine! Grateful to you.
I remembered the name of the series we used to watch. And it was the 70s, not the 80s.
Schoolhouse Rock.
I had no idea it went on into the 2000s as well.
I see that Barack Obama has spoken out against Trump; describing the last two years as being dominated by "Chaos, cruelty, corruption and incompetence."
Trump has stated that the election in Brazil was rigged. He should stop interfering as there is a danger of unrest etc - not that Trump cares - he would welcome it.
