I use a tea pot too for my green tea. Green tea just doesn't taste nice in a tea bag. Also a plus the dregs can go in the food scraps and get fed to the chooks. smile

Thanks Baggy, I will do that. African violets really like cold tea, as do other acid-loving plants. I doubt if my strength of tea needs diluting!

annobel, if you google "loose leaf rooibos: site uk" a few places come up. Good luck. I also use a teapot. I think the tea tastes better that way, plus you can water your pot plants with the strained (and diluted if necessary) dregs. smile

Teapot and leaf tea. So much more economical than teabags, especially if, like me, you take your tea so weak that it can hardly struggle out of the pot. But rooibos seems to come only in bags, and that's my non-caffeine 'fix'. If anyone knows where I can get loose rooibos, i'd love to hear about it.

Oh dear, this is definitely not the 'corner' for me I don't iron anything, leave this chore to my OH or perhaps under the circumstances he should be very DH smile. Have gone back to a tea pot though.

I agree about negativity Baggy. Not good for the spirits. One of the challenges of getting older seems to be to moderate one's critical faculties so as not to turn into a grumpy old woman or a whinging Pom.
I am really picky about the English language in 2 situations - if the mode of communication merits it (I go on and on at my headmaster about using Plain English when writing to parents... "they don't all understand words like curriculum!") and when I am trying to write something for publication or professional reasons.
i am picky about hygiene when there is raw meat around.
My DH is picky about me going onto his computer and leaving documents or applications open... He is quite right. I managed to mess up a near-perfect chapter yesterday due this bad habit... blush

I've alway's ironed socks even when my DCs where small, just imagine how it felt to be in sock's all day at school with the toe seam's all wrinkled up,its a
habit that has continued on to my DD and her family,I also iron my bed linen
nothing looks nicer and it completes the look of the bedroom.

I wonder if that should be 'are only 2 of us'?
I also iron bed linen even the sheets if I can get someone to help me fold them. Sometimes I iron tea-towls and always BH's socks and things. Perhaps it's a Virgo thing. sad?

Went back to using a tea pot years ago.....so much nicer.

I have become a bit of a coffee snob too.....I have an espresso machine and have a couple of good types of bean that I make sure I have several bags of in cupboard. I take the time to make it properly and sit down and enjoy it.

Now that there is only 2 of us...I've gone back to ironing bed linen...not all of it just the Duvet covers and pillow slips....very civilized and it feels lovely.

If this is all making me sound a bit to damn fussy...honestly in many many other things....I'm pretty sloppy!

What a great idea baggy, now let me go away and think of a good example!

There is too much negativity in the pedants' corner. It's not good for us. I propose that we have a positive pedantry thread where we comment on the good that results from 'being particular' about something.

When I lived in a hard water area I made tea in a pot because that way most of the hard water scum was left behind in the pot. Some people call it being fussy. I call it solving a problem.
