Thank you Greatnan My ancestors came from Tonbridge so I ought to know. I bet they spelt them both many different ways back then.

Gracesmum I've just been re-reading 'Am I alone in thinking...' and its follow up 'I could go on'. So funny and a great present for someone - have bought the latest one for Mr.G - but managed to lose it already...
Sorry, I digress - Naughty JB she should know better wink

Clumsy thing to do, don't you think? Yet Joan Bakewell no less shock has written I had been expecting to walk into work today. If I walked into my work I'd be forever making terrible messes in the house, I'd injure myself every time I worked outside with large tools, I'd be permanently covered in bruises from all the things with hard edges, such as washing-machines and cookers, that I use to do my work. If I walked into work.

For goodness' sake, woman! Think about walking in to work. PLEASE!

Next she'll be talking about walking into dinner. Some people are such messy eaters.

Messy writers too. Grr.

It's just possible that it's a stupid editing tool written by a programmer whose grammar qualifications are not as good as his/her algorithm-writing skills. But why has nobody picked up on this and corrected it?
