It always enrages me when people pronouce the letter "H" as Haitch. Petty, I know, but it really gets my goat!

This does seem to be a recent ' affectation' to me , or has it always been around? Is it even a creeping Americanism?

A wee bit tired of radio news announcers pronouncing HS2 as Haitch Hess 2!
