The eighth day in a row of unbroken, dull, dreary grey cloud. Give me strength!

I just knew this weather wasn’t typical, despite people saying it was. Apparently we have Anticyclonic Gloom! This article says many areas have only had 5% of the sunshine typical for early November so far this month.

It’s worse than ever here today, it’s now both gloomy and cold - I’ve been to M&S this morning to buy some treats to cheer us up.

Same here - 12 days? Hate it!

Sorry to say, but another beautiful sunny late autumn day here. Been working very hard trying to tame the garden at one of the Museums I volunteer at- pruned all the plants down and began the big weeding spree- and managed to make a big cut in a finger with the secateurs! Hopefully will have more good weather next week as I still have another 2 afternoons of work before it will be ready for winter.

I'm usually relieved when, at the end of October/beginning of November, we don't have unusually high temperatures and sunshine - it would play havoc with my tortoise's hibernation schedule!

I don't mind bright, crisp and dry, though...

Today! 👏👏👏
Blue skies and sun bright enough to need sun specs whilst driving and walking the dog. A bit cold though.
I don’t suppose it will last, but today was lovely.

Warm, with sunny skies in Cornwall yesterday. Dismal and misty back in Devon today.
I'm expecting cold and wet when I'm in London tomorrow.
The further east I go, the worse it gets!

Apparently we have Anticyclonic Gloom !
As opposed to Gransnet Gloom ?
There’s me thinking was just moaning grans. hmm

Casdon Fri 08-Nov-24 21:31:53

Nope, it’s a phenomenon affecting the population of all ages!

Jaxjacky Fri 08-Nov-24 21:32:09

Apt!

Move over here to Australia. We feel happy when it rains because the gardens get so dry! One of the various reasons we emigrated in early 1970 s but there are negatives, too ( skin cancers for one )

Crisp, blue skies and sunny again up here in t'mountains.
Continuing with the pruning and tidying in the garden at the Museum.

Misty and cloudy on the train up to London from Devon. But I'm saved, and happy, because I'm going to see Van Gogh's sunflowers at The National Gallery! 🌻 🌻
I'll just pretend I'm in the sunny South of France!!

All next week there’s sun in the south east, so they say.Dry and sunny for seven days then rain.Well, you can’t have everything, at least it’s not cold.My tubs of annuals are still going strong.

annodomini Sat 09-Nov-24 10:16:56

I've just looked at the BBC Weather forecast for this month and can find only four days when they're expecting sunshine - two of them next week.

You have to look at your local site for any degree of accuracy, and even then it often changes.
