Well, we collected her this afternoon, but she`s awfully timid, has spent ages hiding behind the fridge freezer, came out for food, then cowered in the bathroom, behind the toilet. We`re not forcing her, she`ll come out in her own time.

Do you mean instead of water colours?

soop Wed 21-Nov-12 16:56:34

Mr soop has suggested that I use a different medium. This will be a first. As usual, eager to get started. grin

Don`t fret over it Soop, and I`ll be happy with whatever you decide to do. The last thing I want is for you to get upset over it, I`m sure that Mia will survive without gazing in her supercilious manner, at her portrait as she passes it! xx

Oh dear, number...I've made a right pig's ear of Mia's portrait. I'm smothered in paint and the portrait is sitting in the bath...I've given it a shower. Seriously! I have to admit that I'm not good enough to paint a white cat. And now I feel awful because I made a promise that I cannot keep. I wonder whether you would be happier with a sketch of Mia...the pose being the one on her back? Please let me know. sad

I took on a cat that had been living with an old lady, and was becoming a bit of a danger, twining herself round the woman's legs and so on. The cat had never been outside, and was now five years old... the sky terrified her!

Slowly, slowly she accustomed herself to the great outside, (and my scratches healed) but she was only ever happy there on a running lead -- on the odd occasions when she slipped away she would be found in a nearby garden, terrified and hiding under things!

But my agorophobic Siamese queen did learn that my lap was her natural place to be... and she was a companion for another fifteen years.

Signing off now. Arty farty hat ready and waiting. grin moon

Fell out with her earlier. She went outside and disappeared for an hour and a half, then came in, so I picked her up, saying "Where the heck have you been all this time?", then, feeling cold and wet, I realised that her feet and back of her back legs were covered in black mud, which on a white cat looked even blacker! After going upstairs to change my tee-shirt, I decided to wash her feet off, to which she had extremely strong objections. After going back upstairs to change yet ANOTHER tee-shirt, I left her to it. She`s now lovely and clean, and asking to go out again, but she aint going!!

Lucid with reference to not wanting to shout "Dick" down the garden, we had to change Lily's name when she first came to us at about 2 years old.

Somehow, the thought of Mr P standing on the doorstep caling "Spunky, Spunky where are you?" didn't really seem right.

soop Fri 16-Nov-12 13:57:22

number although the photo that I have of Mia with her toy, is lovely, she's looking down. Could you try to take a photo with her eyes fully open? I need to see the crisp [not blurred] detail in them. A white cat!!! I promise to start the portrait soon. The right pose from Mia would be most helpful. smile

Marelli Thu 15-Nov-12 18:55:10

I know what you mean, number! She'll be having a look round, and sussing out her territory though - that'll be why she was out longer this time. She'll be fine. smile

numberplease Thu 15-Nov-12 18:10:00

I started to let Mia go outside yesterday for the first time, but was on pins till she came back in, even though it was only a few minutes! Today she disappeared for an hour and a quarter, heaven knows where to! Because of what happened to Pepper, I think I`ll worry every time she goes out.

numberplease Sun 21-Oct-12 20:46:32

Bit late for that Marelli!

Marelli Sun 21-Oct-12 20:06:37

number - it could be the making of the man! You never know wink!

numberplease Sun 21-Oct-12 17:24:35

Marelli, my card is going to go in the Pepper box, it has his food bowls, favourite toy, medical records and microchip number, plus a photo of him, now the card`s going in there.
Mia seems to ha ve decided to be the man of the house`s cat, she hangs around him all the time, flippin` ignores me! I keep telling her to remember who feeds her and cleans out her litter tray, but he still gets all the adoration. To think that before Pepper he was a staunch animal hater!

Marelli Sun 21-Oct-12 09:27:13

Oh number, when my wee Lucky had to be put to sleep, the vets sent me a card as well. All the nurses who had worked with Lucky had signed it, and there was a lovely message. I've put it in my memory box. I was only able to read it once. Even now I can't look at it. However..(!) ....at the moment Daisy is attacking her garden cane, which is stuck in the grass. She paws at the bottom of it and watches the top of it wagging about....2 magpies are in the oak tree watching her. It's a lovely sight actually, because the tree is now golden and the sun is shining! smile

numberplease Sat 20-Oct-12 22:51:27

Meant to say earlier, in the post this morning there was a lovely condolence card from the vet`s surgery, that was very nice of them.

numberplease Sat 20-Oct-12 17:38:30

Sorry, Anno, you can`t have this one! lol!

annodomini Sat 20-Oct-12 17:00:14
