This is where I'm going wrong! One black, one black and white, one white and grey and one ginger! Whatever I wear someone's hairs show up smile

I think that the trick is to have a black cat and black clothes - then they don't show so it doesn't matter! grin

Deedaa , long after my Jack Russell died, I would still get her hairs on my clothes from my work office chair, even though she had never been in the office! I think I would pick up the hairs at home, transfer them to the car, and then to work.

The cat hair on the laminate I can cope with, it's the Digby fur everywhere else that's a pain!

We have the same laminate floors ans four cats problem. Haven't found an effective answer and can only say that at least the tumbleweed isn't as bad as when we had two border collies as well! It's seven years since the last dog went and I still find odd bits of dog hair when moving furniture. (Of course this probably says more about my housekeeping than it does about the fur)

Actually if it's any help (and I doubt if it is) when I was with Exdh and had waist length hair, the fall out would often wind itself round the brush of the upright hoover and have to be removed!

grin

No! That's the point. He's not. So it wouldn't be any good for wot's-'is-name (cat No 3)

Oh, leave it. hmm

annodomini Mon 26-Nov-12 17:58:33

Your grandson's moulting, JO?

annodomini Mon 26-Nov-12 17:53:17

Luckily, phoenix, Sam kept his saliva to himself.

jO5 Mon 26-Nov-12 17:47:43

Well it looks the same sort of thing.

But GS does still have hair.

As you were.

Anne58 Mon 26-Nov-12 17:45:30

Was he also a dribbler anno ?

annodomini Mon 26-Nov-12 17:43:05

My black cat used to get so ecstatic when he was being stroked that his purr rose about an octave till he was singing, then he would have to get down, move off and calm down.

Anne58 Mon 26-Nov-12 17:42:52

Not sure that would actually remove hair/fluff jO5 ?

jO5 Mon 26-Nov-12 17:40:24

Looks a bit like this

Bought one for my grandson. He seems happy enough with it. Similar situation.

Anne58 Mon 26-Nov-12 17:34:52

I think you might mean Digby? I remember asking you about Stalin before, still makes me chuckle!

MiceElf Mon 26-Nov-12 17:32:03

The For Paws looks like the one I have.

Maurice doesn't know his own strength. I think he needs some lessons from Stalin who lives next door to me....

Anne58 Mon 26-Nov-12 17:22:44

Thanks for that MiceElf ! Sometimes when Digby is having a picked up cuddle (which he loves, Maurice on the other hand regards it as an affront to his dignity) he gets in such a doo dah that he "holds" either my shoulder or my hand with his teeth. It is definitely not a bite, as it is done so gently.

Unlike the occasion during pouncing practice the other week, when he managed to leave a puncture mark and a bead of blood in my big toe through the duvet, admittedly it was a summer weight one, but still !

I think I may well add a grooming glove to my list. By the way, is there any particular one that you would recommend?

number , Maurice likes to play "chicken" with the vauum cleaner, seeing just how close he will let it get before he saunters off with a "I was going to move anyway" air. The King of Cool, is Maurice, even the vet said so.

MiceElf Mon 26-Nov-12 16:59:19

Both my puss cats loved those grooming gloves, but one of them used to go into such an ecstasy that she would bite the hand that brushed her after five minutes or so. Clever timing was crucial.

My cat runs and hides when the vacuum cleaner comes out, and does a bunk as soon as she sees the grooming brush, so I`ll just have to keep vacuuming the settee and chair, strangely, no hairs seem to adhere to daughter`s duvet cover, another favourite sleeping place.

tanith Mon 26-Nov-12 16:48:13

I was sorely tempted but she always ran for the hills when the vacuum was going... there was a place under my staircase where the dust bunnies would gather in droves , it was like the gathering of the clans under there.. I used to cheat and sweep them with my long handled dustpan and brush rather than drag out the hoover every day.. its very easy to gather up hair from the bed/sofa if you put on a rubber glove, dampen it and then sweep up the hair with your hand , it seems to stick to glove for some reason.

tanith Mon 26-Nov-12 16:42:17

Vacuuming ..

Anne58 Mon 26-Nov-12 16:36:07

tanith I have even been tempted to vacuum Digby, on a low suction setting of course grin

tanith Mon 26-Nov-12 16:29:48

My old cat had very thick fur no matter how often I brushed it she would still moult everywhere... sadly she's no longer with us but I never found a way to stop it , I did put an old pillow case in her favourite places to sit so the worst of it was on that.. good luck I hope you get some decent suggestions.. otherwise its 'keep vacuumiming'.

Anne58 Mon 26-Nov-12 16:22:38

Afternoon all.

With 3 cats I am used to putting up with bits of fluff bowling across the laminate floor like tumble weed in a western, but it is getting beyond a joke.

Maurice (black velvet smoking jacket, smart yet subtle and understated white cravat, white socks and gloves) could moult for Britain, but fortunately loves to be brushed (as long as you do it really firmly, he goes all sort of splat cat on the floor and rolls over to have his other side done) and has the sort of fur that actually does come off on the brush in vast quantities, so no great problem.

Lily (white, long hair, sort of feline equivalent of a princess party dress with frilly knickers) moults reasonably lightly , unless I am wearing my smart black trousers which would seem to have an inbuilt fur magnet. Not totally averse to brushing, but very little fluff seems to adhere to the brush. Balls of tumbling fur easily spotted and picked up.

But the bane of my life fur wise is:
Digby (camouflage issue kit for jungle/forest exercises) has very fine dense fur which distributes in a fashion partly reminiscent of nuclear fall out. It gets everywhere ! A moment ago he was on the desk in front of me and a few gentle strokes were enough to send small clouds of it billowing up my nose and all over the keyboard. I have to put the attachment on the hoover and go over the duvet cover on a regular basis. (yes, I know that he shouldn't be allowed on the bed)

Despite my best efforts, he definitely does NOT like being brushed.

Does anyone think that this might be worth a try?

Has anyone tried one? If so, which is best? Is there anyting else I could try?

Thanks!
