New rescue cat. help

We had a 7 year old rescue cat that would suddenly turn and attack us. We never knew what we had done, but something had obviosly triggered a memory. It took a while but the attacks tailed off and he lived to a happy old age with us.
I would say lots of peace and quiet and nice food, and the pheromone plug in is definitely worth a try.

We also gave a home to a very nervous cat. We just gave him a lot of space - if he wanted to hide behind the sofa we let him. We kept things quiet and basically let him dictate the pace. Perhaps one of those Feliwell airthingies might help too. We used one when we moved to help the cats settle when we moved.

A blow by blow account for his GN fans. He was wonderful. He's been home since lunchtime and has eaten well.

Plug in pheremone thingies (just ask at the vet work really well forbes if Henry doesn't settle. We had a really nervy cat (sensitive soul) who was helped a lot by them. Enjoy him, you're really lucky.

Forbesisnow2, we brought our rescue cat, Mia, home nearly 4 months ago. At first she was terribly nervous and timid, hiding behind furniture and the fridge whenever anyone went near her, but after a few days she came round, and is fine now, complete with a very hearty appetite!

forbesisnow2...all it takes is love and oodles of patience. At first, our Rory attacked me - I've the scars to prove it. I wore wellingtons whenever I fed him, because he thought that my legs were worth a chew. He growled, hissed and spat. Day by day, week by week, month by month we've persevered. He's no longer a scrawny, feral cat with bad attitude. He's adorable. We love him to bits...and, in a feline way, he possibly thinks we're okay!
Henry will settle. I wouldn't mind betting that by Monday you'll wonder why it was you worried.
