Forbesisnow2, so pleased to hear that Henry has settled in so well. I let Mia out, but can`t help worrying every time, after losing our poor Pepper a few months ago, but we can`t wrap her in cotton wool, she wouldn`t enjoy not being able to go outside.

It's what we do, forbesisnow2! All of my cats have been 'rescued', and they've all had such different characters. I've worried myself silly about whether they'd wander off on the first time I let them out in the garden, but they've all come back. They deserve every bit of spoiling we can give them - bless them! smile

forbesisnow2,

Oh the joy of taking on a rescue animal!
Took our old cat 3 years to calm down (he had been treated horribly)
The dog we have now (16 months with us) ruels our lives but had added so much - I stareted a thread about her last year on here.
Shes mad but totally loving and has added so much to our lives - taking her for long walks has helped us to find otters in the local environment!

Hello everyone and thank you for all your helpful hints on how to settle my rescue cat Henry IIIV. We have made great progress this week he is lying on the sofa next to me as I type this, taking up more than his share of room.
We let him out into the garden, nervous at first but it didnt take long for him to get confidence. He also came back when I rattled the dish of food.
He still can be a bit tempermental but each day there is improvement.
He is even tolerating the grandchildren. Oh and just to add that he now demands Sheeba cat food, as I have spoilt him already. I have just been sucked into a life of slavery to a feline.
