pudding

I would be grateful for any help regarding "pudding* my rescue cat. She has been with me about two years now and it took a long time for her to regain trust in people, however this isn,t her main problem!
she suffers from severe constipation and we were in a cycle of eating then being ill! this cycle now seems to be on a continuous loop.She has been back and for to the vets, but with no success.
I have homed rescue cats for over 45years, but I,m at a loss what to do with her and just wondered if my fellow posters may have suggestions?

Pudding is MY rescue cat - we've had her for about 12 years, you can't take her now - get off smile

I'm so sorry to hear she is having those problems - but what does the vet say? Can you change her food and perhaps help her drink more, with a bottle even.

Our Pudding was found with another adult cat and 10 kittens in a taped cardboard box, by the M1 M69 junction in Leicester. Such cowards deserve to be drawn and quartered imho.

Hi "granjura" nice to think we both have a pudding! The vet can find no tu mours or blockages and we have tried all the usual medicines, plus syrup of figs, lactulose, bran etc, all to no avail.
it would appear that in her previous neglected state she lived on human food and would prefer a mouldy chicken leg from the bin as opposed to a m/s freshly cooked one !
I agree with you about hanging these animal abusers, I,m sure like me you have seen some sorry sights x

Does she have access to outside and grass - or cat grass or nepelta/cat mint inside?

We called our rescue Pudding, because she has a large hanging belly - which sways when she runs, bless her. After having the 10 kittens, she was quite distended and spayed- and never lost her belly- bless her! She is so loving and well despite her great age, but just will not come on our lap, for love nor reason - we will never know why.

What is nepelta/cat mint? She wont eat the grass, the only cat I have had that won,t, usually cats instinctively eat it when they have bad tummies but not this pudding!

Why not Google Nepelta, or ask in any garden centre. Our Pudding just loves it.

Have you tried a pure meat cat food? There is one that is sold quite cheaply in supermarkets. I can't remember the name but it only comes in tins not pouches. The main thing is that it doesn't contain any cereal or additives. my daughter's vet advised it for her cat which had the opposite trouble with her stomach, his theory being that cats are carnivorous and a meat only diet is best. It worked like a dream for her and I've known it work with a dog as well. It may be totally wrong for your Pudding - but you never know.
