Kennels

The thing is it does have an enclosed space where she can have a run several times a day. Being a whippet there aren't many places where it's safe to let her off the lead. They have two play sessions in the enclosure plus two walks each day and the people who run it are highly trained in dog behaviour. They said it's ok for her to have paper down in part of the kennel and she will go onto the paper [she was paper trained when she was a puppy]. Annoying thing is that I have a kennels just a few yards from my house but none of the local people use it. We're going to see them in a weeks time so my dog meets them and gets a feel for the place. It's only for a few days and I can always change to another kennels for our main holiday. It's a pity I can't just get a dog walker but she's very allergic to wasp stings and if it happened at home and there was no one around she'd be a very sick dog. I shouldn't have left it so late visiting the place should I?

I would go for the one with the outside run also Tegan 13hrs is such a long time to have your legs crossed don't you think ? We have decided to put Poppy in day care when we go away and she will be treated as part of the family the lady only takes a maximum of 4 so she will get 4 walks a day.

I would change to the other kennels Tegan. Being couped up all day would be too upsetting for her especially if she is used to that freedom at home.

My dog is going into kennels for the first time this month. I'm a bit worried that I've booked her into one where they don't have an outside run, as she has access to outside at home all the time. I asked them today what time they have their first/last walk and they said first walk was @7 am and last one was at 6. I'm thinking that 13 hours is a long time for a dog to go without being able to go outside for a wee. Is this normal hours for kennels? There is another one where they have an outside run and I'm wondering if I should switch her to that one. The first one has been recommended by several people, though.
