Just got home from a busy shift to be greeted by my cat Poppy sitting in the window. It really lifted my spirits. And as soon as I unlocked the door our 3 month old kitten Winston came running all excited. Love coming home to my pets, there is nothing like a pet greeting you. DH, DD and DSS are not too bad either grin

Larry , Rita and Jazz pictured here all come to meet me when I get home . I can see their shapes through the glass door when I put the key in !

DH used to work away all week; when he came home on Friday nights the DC would say 'Oh, hi Dad' and wander off to do their own things, I would say 'Ok love, had a good journey?'.
The dog would go ecstatic (he could hear the car from some distance along the road [!]) and would jump up and down, totter around on his hind legs and 'laugh' and make a gurgling sound.
DH used to say 'at least the dog is pleased to see me'

I lost my big loveable hound some years ago and as I'd had a dog since I was 15, I really missed her but the hardest thing was coming home that first night and there was no welcome, I cried so much and even now I could cry.
However I have my darling cats. I can find a picture of one, charlie

When DS's marriage broke up, somehow we got custody of this bundle of fun. He is actually smiling in this photo'. The Victor Meldrew of the dog world.
He's lived with us for nearly three years and his paws are well and truly under the table. He has DH wrapped round the canine equivalent of his little finger.

Loving your beautiful Purr-sons Antjexix.

Lovely pet photos on here. If Mia`s outside when I get home, she stalks indignantly in front of me to the back door, as if to reprimand me for daring to go out. If she`s inside, there`s always someone else there if I go out, so she doesn`t really bother.

One of my dogs gets hyper when we come home and it is a bit worrying. He winds between my legs then runs from me to OH and back again. We are getting him out of the habit of jumping up. We have been trying him out in a big crate to give him somewhere to chill out, but so far he has only put his front paws in! He goes in the crate in the car no problem.

But it is lovely to come home to such a welcome. There is a dog trainer who thinks we should ignore our pets when we come home and not make a fuss - but she takes all the fun out of having a pet.

This is our grand-dog Ellie, who always makes herself at home when she stays with us.....all she needs is a glass of wine in her paw!!

We're lucky if our cat opens one eye when come home.
Unless it's past her dinner time smile

I do have a very sweet Granddog, Basil.
He is a big Stella Creasy fan too!

I love the idea of a Grandpet Jane10. I now know I have a grandwoof and a grandpurr grin

My last cat was always at the garage door to meet me whatever time I came home in the car. It was a mystery as to how he knew I was on my way. Purdy Puss usually runs away when I come home but comes back pretty quickly.

Antjexix Mon 21-Mar-16 19:00:48

Poor thing.

TriciaF Mon 21-Mar-16 18:49:48

ps I can't imagine a cat getting as excited as dogs - cool cats and hot dogs!

TriciaF Mon 21-Mar-16 18:47:58

Sorry to put a damper on this - our border collie used to get so excited when we got home, she had an epileptic fit. Only a short one, but disturbing.
She's been on tablets and seems better now, and we've learnt to respond calmly to her, not to increase her excitement.

Antjexix Mon 21-Mar-16 18:39:01

She's beautiful Alea

Alea Mon 21-Mar-16 18:19:36

Grace is always excited to see me hmm

Lillie Mon 21-Mar-16 18:09:02

Nothing like the greeting our pets give us when we open the door. Both cats and dogs.smile

We've lost our Tom a few months ago. It's heartbreaking. I wasn't sure about a new kitten so soon but Poppy seemed a little lonely

Slinky is a brilliant name for a dachshund! Good luck for knee op.
My Baz always comes to greet me but in a restrained feline sort of way! My Grandkitten Snowball hasn't learned to be cool yet so rushes madly to see me when I arrive at DDs. He usually loses traction when cornering on the laminate floor! Aw. Pets. Can't imagine life without them.

grannylyn65 Mon 21-Mar-16 18:03:54

? Oh that reminds me of my little cat who greeted me for 17 years. Sadly became very ill and I lost her a few months ago. Am trying to psyche myself up to visit cat shelter !

Antjexix Mon 21-Mar-16 17:57:39

Hope all goes well granjura smile

Alea Mon 21-Mar-16 17:50:43

Good luck with the op granjura!

Poor Slinky (the very elderly dachshund) always gives me such a welcome... left him this afternoon to go into the clinic for my knee replacement and will be away for 6 to 12 days- it's going to be so tough for him- and he will drive DH crazy!

Your cats are so cute.
