Contrary cats

I think most cats do that. 'My new favourite place'! In general, it will not be that nice, cosy, new basket you've just spent £££ on.

Yes, my Bugsie does the same. At the moment he has given up the comfort of my bed for the dining chair which I like to sit on to use my computer as it is next to the plug. A few months ago he chose the centre of the 2 seater sofa for a while, stretching out over both seat cushions. On a few occasions I ended up using a deck chair when watching TV!
My other cat, Saffron, usually goes onto the top bunk in the spare room in the daytime. I treated her to a cosy bed last week, and put it on the bunk. She actually slept in it twice, but has ignored it since. Unfortunately she sleeps on or in my bed at night, which can be most uncomfortable and hot.

Oliver Sprout, after a spell of reasonably "normal" places, has decided (when he does actually deign to spend the night indoors ) has decided again that the basin in the bathroom is the place for him

Mr P is not impressed, although the basin is devoid of cat when he goes to have his "splosh" (how can one person make so much mess having a wash and shave?) he complains about the grit and hair that OS seems to leave in his wake!

Loved reading these posts - our cat is just the same. Spurns my lovely specially crocheted blanket I make him, and at moment favourite place is a directors chair which was on balcony (now placed indoors just for him!). It's not Hunt the Thimble but Hunt the Cat at bedtime, to make sure I don't shut him in a room!

My Kitty wakes up on my bed, then he transfers himself to the 2nd shelf in my wardrobe, then he sleeps inside the window, then he spends the evening going between the sofa and my lap, and finally back to my bed.

Having said the above, he's just nicked my chair when I got up to go to the kitchen.

Cats, can't live with them, can't live without them. Bless them.

Tara used to love my computer chair but hated moving when I wanted to use my computer and there was not space for both of us. She likes to sleep either on the arm or the top of the chair I am sitting on when watching TV. She has taken over a bedroom so loves that bed although joins me when I go to bed until I start to move or heaven forbid, breathe, then she goes back to her room or may collapse on the landing on the laminate floor if it is very hot.

If she suspects a trip to the vet she has a hidey hole in the 3rd bedroom where I cannot get to her as I cannot kneel. I still love her to bits and she knows it.

Digby is 6, and if there was a competition for laziest cat, he would be Gold Medal standard.

He is not fussy about where he sleeps, spends all evening on the sofa, then gets carried comes upstairs to bed, has a "lick and a promise" wash, then settles down to sleep all night on the bed!

No wonder he is, as Mr P puts it, such a fat bastard plump chap

He's not exactly Action Cat during the day either, just seems to stroll from one resting place to another, although I suppose when he's snoozing on top of the wheelie bin he is at least getting some fresh air!

I don't like cats sleeping on beds because I find it disturbs my sleep and everyone else has allergies so ours have always slept in the futility room. Or, as dh calls it, their boudoir. It's actually the warmest room in the house as it has the washing machine the tumble drier and the boiler in there. They stagger away from their box on the boiler in a stupour from overheating.

My 19yr old tortie sleeps on me whenever possible, especially if I'm trying to knit or read. If I'm not at home she sleeps on bottom bunk used by youngest g'dtr which means I have to cover it with a throw to keep the stray hairs away from her bedding. At night she sleeps on my duvet, in the crook of my legs and complains if I dare move. She wakes me at sunrise - OK in winter, not OK in summer - by nuzzling my face and purring loudly. I love her but opening my eyes to staring green eyes, what sounds like a pneumatic drill and a blast of cat food breath is not my favourite experience. She is very elderly, but is doing very well for her age and I dread losing her.
