I was buying the family Christmas cards - Husband/Daughter/Son and I saw one for The Dog so I bought for her one too. Does any one else buy their pet a Christmas card? Or is only me?

When he buys me one I’ll reciprocate ?

Alima Thu 23-Nov-17 08:24:45

Possibly Danni. Will she be able to eat hers?

DanniRae Thu 23-Nov-17 08:43:55

Well no Alima but that's the first thing my son said when I told him. I forgot you can get edible ones so next year I shall shop for her card in a pet shop and not W H Smiths!

I agree with Friday!

I do buy my cat an advent calendar. She's pretty adept at opening the windows herself though, so the treats don't usually last until Christmas.

When my dog was around I don’t think the cards were, but I always bought him a present. ?

Bluegal Thu 23-Nov-17 19:01:50

Hahaha.....personally NO Danni. I love all my animals but never buy presents at Christmas or cards from them etc. I do buy 'treats' throughout the year though. I've a basketful of toys for the dog and the GC get confused as to which are theirs as he seems to have more lol.

BUT when he was a young pup he would just attack any toy left around but now he knows which are his and leaves the GC's toys alone. SUCCESS smile

Clever dog eh, Bluegal? grin

I don't buy cards for the dogs. They aren't ignored at Christmas though. They usually get a new bed and a package to rip open that has something tasty in it. Ridiculous I know but hey ho they are family members. (the are so definitely not Fur Babies, they are dogs)

Cards? grin going a bit far, but when the DC were at home we always had to have a present for the pets.Under the tree!

I usually wrap up some cat food for our cats, as like most cats, they love opening parcels. We started it in the vain hope that the present cats' predecessors would leave our parcels alone!

The GC make cards for Sam, and buy him a gift. Its usually a new toy or maybe a treat. AND he has his own stocking. Well everyone else has one so it would be mean to leave him out. Its usually full of things we would always buy as a matter of course, just wrapped in Christmas paper so the GC can 'surprise' him !

To be fair - he always looks surprised !

I love my cats dearly but do not buy them Christmas cards or presents....

humptydumpty Thu 30-Nov-17 10:47:55

I always bought our cat a stocking!

newnanny Thu 30-Nov-17 10:52:09

A gift yes a card no.

Arry Thu 30-Nov-17 10:54:14

I don't buy my dog a card, but I do get her a present, however I have bought her an advent calendar this year [after saying I never would], so who knows next year?

Nanny123 Thu 30-Nov-17 11:00:34

We buy our dog a Christmas present - he loves nothing more than ripping open a present. He is also part of the family so why not.

A couple of weeks ago my granddaughter held a birthday party (with guests, party hats and the full works) for an albino hedgehog.

Margs Thu 30-Nov-17 11:56:23

Yes! But, unfortunately, Admiral Nelson (the cat) is routinely sick as a dog (no pun, honestly!) due to scrounging turkey off everyone......apparently, it's too rich for a cat.

Sheilasue Thu 30-Nov-17 12:04:20

well I do send one to my gd from our cat Oscar, she likes to get one.
He usually gets a toy for Christmas and we have a relation with a dog and two cats so they get a toy.

Craftycat Thu 30-Nov-17 12:32:48

Our now departed gorgeous dog always got a new squeaky toy at Christmas.
It was really funny in the days leading up to the big day as she knew which present under the tree was hers & would sit looking longingly at it. Much excitement when she got to tear it open too. I miss her so much.

Myym Thu 30-Nov-17 12:50:50

I remember one year when all the presents were under the tree. I came down in the morning to find the only gift that had been opened (by the dog) was the one labelled for her. She must have managed to smell the doggy-chocs which were sealed in a plastic bag inside a tin and then wrapped in festive paper! But not open the other gifts that contained chocolates and sweets. Everything else was still neat and tidy which meant she had been selective in her treasure hunt.

Never ever bought a toy, gadget or .... card... for any of our beloved and adored pets. Sorry, just don't get it- at all.

What they want is a pat, a cuddle, a good walk and run after a stick ... be warm and comfy and secure.

Cathy21 Thu 30-Nov-17 14:49:08

I buy Neighbour's dog a present, bought this morning, chew sticks
