A sad weekend

DS and DiL adopted a golden lab who'd been retired as a gundog. She had 4 years of happy retirement, then the young folk were heartbroken when she died.
Then along came a fit 4year-old Springer who wasn't shaping up as a gundog. She is much loved.
Now they're about to take on another retiring working dog- a black lab aged 9.
Knowing they will go through the sadness of losing her in the not-too-distant future isn't putting them off. The 2 dogs know each other and we think they'll be contented companions.

So sorry Leemw711 our pets are such a big part of our lives.. At least your lovely cat had a peaceful end and had been well loved. Give your other two extra cuddles now. flowers

Just so sad and a shock too - there is no easy way to lose our best friends. Give your other two extra treats and TLC to help all of you flowers

So sorry to hear this, sending every good wish.

Those of us with pets understand the place they hold in our hearts, and the sadness we feel when they leave us.

I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. Our little cat went out of the catflap in November, and we found her dead at the bottom of the garden two hours later. We think she had a stroke. Last month we adopted another young cat from Cat's Protection, who had an awful time as a stray, and she is settling in well. She is a great comfort to us, after our sudden loss.

It is a sad day for you all. Poor puss. A lovely way for him to go though. Just slipped away in his sleep.

I'm so sorry. It's not quite three weeks since my little dog died in my arms at the Vet's. Losing a pet is not easy, we just have to remember that we gave them a good life, and they repaid us by being loyal, trusting and entertaining.

So sad for you, Lee, but your cat obviously had a good life, and left it cuddled up to the people he loved.

We have 3 cats but our youngest was not looking very fit - seemed sorry for himself as he huddled near the feeding bowl. They usually curl up together on top of my duvet overnight. Yesterday when we woke up the 2 older cats yawned, stretched and wandered off to their food bowls. Shadow (sealpoint Siamese beauty) did not, so I stroked him but found he was not breathing and had no pulse. We’re devastated as he was a lovely pet with a great personality and we will miss him so much. Cried myself to sleep last night...
