Hello all,
On Sunday Oliver Sprout appeared on the kitchen windowsill and for a brief moment I thought he was sporting a rather impressive moustache, but when I put my glasses on I discovered it was a small dead rodent,
( a shrew I think, definitely not a mouse).
I refused to let him in, and after a while he disappeared, probably a bit put out that I wasn't overjoyed by his gift. He reappeared a while later, sans rodent, so I let him in and normal relations were resumed.
Fast forward to this morning, a lovely spring day, and my day off. So, cats fed, kitchen window left open I came upstairs with my tea to fire up the computer and have a look at GN. I heard the patter of paws, and found Minnie on the landing standing proudly beside a very dead creature, that looked vaguely familiar. I picked it up in a bit of loo roll, and threw it out of the window into the back garden.
Ten minutes later, Minnie reappeared, again with her "prize". I repeated the procedure with the loo roll and open window. I was absolutely stunned when she appeared with it for a THIRD time!!
This time I wrapped it up and went down and put in the wheelie bin.
So, the question is, have I got the worlds best retrieving cat (bearing in mind I was throwing it out of an upstairs back window, so she had to go down, out through the kitchen window at the front, then round the side of the house to the back, find the corpse, and then do the trip in reverse) or do cats keep a secret stash of dead rodents for days when they CBA to hunt, but feel the need to impress?
