Morning all.

Clutching at straws here, but I have a very poorly cat and wondered if any of you have dealt with the same issue.

She has been retching/gagging since Sunday evening and until yesterday was also flicking her tongue in and out.

Monday we went to the vet and she had exploratories done.

Her gut was inflamed so they operated on her abdomen, but found nothing.

She came home last night and drank some water, but not eaten.

She's on two meds - one anti-inflammatory and Ranittidene (sp?) as she is full of wind.

She spends her time hiding quietly in a corner and wants to be on her own (very out of character, but understandable at the moment).

She is still doing mini-retches, almost like an unproductive burp.

I slept downstairs with her last night and she had a few little wanders around and then settled down again.

Any ideas as to what may be causing this or what else to do? The vet's on standby to readmit her, but he doesn't have a clue as to the cause.

Help please!

Wonderful news! ?
I'm sure sodapop is right and she'll improve very quickly now she's home. No wonder you're welling up; I feel a bit that way, too.
May she go from strength to strength. ?

Not silly at all Squiffy she will thrive now she is home. Good luck.

Its lovely that she is home where she belongs.
No wonder you feel a bit tearful.

SHE’S HOME ???

I collected her an hour ago and she hasn’t stopped purring! She’s managed to lift her head enough to look around, but I’m not sure how much will register. Her nose was twitching, too, so perhaps she’s aware of familiar smells?

Just did my first solo tube feed - nerve-wracking!

She purred contentedly after and is now snuggled up and sleeping ?

Two more feeds to go tonight. I’ll have to set my alarm in case I nod off!

I keep looking at her and welling up, how silly!

Onwards and upwards!

phoenix Wed 22-Aug-18 18:05:34

Good to hear of her progress.

Squiffy Wed 22-Aug-18 17:34:08

Thanks all of you smile

Had a session of exercising Fluff today. She's definitely showing small signs of muscle strength returning.

I also did a tube feed again and she purred contentedly when I finished. They've upped the amount to try and bulk her up a bit. I had to laugh as they have a big boy cat in and he weighs exactly three times the amount Fluff weighs!!

seacliff Tue 21-Aug-18 20:22:51

Well done Squiffy.

HildaW Tue 21-Aug-18 19:45:55

A new career? Joking apart, so glad you are feeling upbeat and that Fluff is showing improvement. All the best and we are all rooting for you both! X

Squiffy Tue 21-Aug-18 17:24:36

Thank you grandtante smile

Today I have qualified as a fully fledged Food Squirter! I was very nervous, but managed to give her a full tube-feed and flush through without incident!

It was mayhem at the Vet's today. A full house with lots of accompanying miaows and whines. I wanted to cuddle them all and make them feel better!

grandtanteJE65 Tue 21-Aug-18 13:26:04

So pleased to hear the good news!

Squiffy Mon 20-Aug-18 21:34:49

Thank you all, you’ve really been keeping my spirits up smile

Jane Funnily enough, that’s what I said to one of the Nurses today.

It’s almost as though something’s gone ping in her brain and switched it on again. ‘Ping’ is a medical term wink

Really cheering news. You must be so encouraged by all these baby steps towards getting better.x

seacliff Mon 20-Aug-18 20:40:06

It's such a marathon... go Fluffy go ???

Jane10 Mon 20-Aug-18 20:00:47

Poor puss. She sounds like an elderly person recovering from a stroke. Good progress though with the help of nurse Squiffy!

MissAdventure Mon 20-Aug-18 19:00:32

Go, Fluff!! smile

HildaW Mon 20-Aug-18 18:53:50
