whywhywhy and Kupari45 We grieve for our much-loved pets as we would grieve for any loved ones we have lost.
I was distraught after my lovely cat, Buster, of 18 years had died, and I was like Kupari's daughter in that I hated pulling up outside the house without him there to greet me ... and also hated getting up in the morning for the same reason. My daughter gave me some very wise advice and pointed out that the rescue places are full of cats and kittens who desperately need the love and care that I could give ... that it wouldn't be disloyal to my lovely Buster but a tribute to him to help some other needy little furry scrap.
I adopted a tiny little 5 week old abandoned kitten that had been found in a shed. She needed a lot of TLC obviously and we helped each other.
I pass on the same advice - there are so many lovely pets out there who are desperate to find a loving and caring owner. The new adoptee will never replace the darling pet who has passed away, but will soak up the love and kindness that you can give.
Just a thought .....
Should I have been a better person?
