Just wanted to share some lovely cats that made me smile last night . The black cat lost her kitten, but was given an orange kitten that she loved and Grandpa Mason was a feral elderly cat with advanced kidney disease who cared for Orphan kittens.
These cats had hard lives, but they gave love to orphans and its heartwarming to see carer" cats that will happily take on orphans. In cat colonies, the more nurturing cats sometimes help other cats take care of their litter, it's quite sweet.

Please no nasty comments today. This is supposed to spread joy. If you don't like cats please dont bother commenting.

What a lovely post. I have never had a cat but I regularly look after my neighbour's 2 cats when she's away. They must make lovely pets.

OMG that is SO beautiful! I absolutely LOVE cats and have had loads over the years!

Thanks for such a lovely post!

It makes me smile that you loved the post @Sarnia and @TheWierdo . flowers I've never not had cats, as a child and as an adult. They are lovely and I love dogs too. It's heartwarming that some dogs will also do this and that some breeds of dog will happily get along with cats really well and even snuggle up together.

Although I already had two cats, I was persuaded to adopt a tiny little girl kitten. The vet told me that my tabby girl would probably mother the kitten but to be careful that my large, ginger tough guy didn't bully her.

Tabby just hissed at the kitten and left the room in disgust as soon as kit appeared. Ginger loved kitten from the word go and he would lovingly groom her and they would cuddle up on the chair together.

One of the things I love about cats is that they know their own minds and don't always behave as you would expect.
They can be aloof and self contained but also loving towards their human and cat companions.

Our Siamese boy was three years old when a tabby, boy kitten came to live with us. The Siamese took over the parenting roll immediately. He even, on one occasion boxed the little one's ears when it put itself in danger.

I adore cats, my favourite domestic animals, they've always been a source of joy. Sadly I don't have one at the moment so I have to make do with videos. of other people's felines. Thank you for this OOopsidia

What a lovely welcome for the little kitten

Oh, cats are much nicer than most people I think! Most animals are.

We’ve always had cats since we were first married. These are our current two - Milo and Ripley who are 14.

I absolutely love cats, they are far superior to a lot of humans. Your post made me smile. So cute!

00psidia, you've discovered Tiny kittens, and it has given hours of pleasure, laughs, and tears to me!! My beautiful feline companion is 19 years old, we are two older ladies together!!

00opsidia Thu 05-Sept-24 11:12:37

@Ladyleftfieldlover oh so cute! I'd post mine but I have posted them a lot on SM so I need to stay anon.

Yes, Tiny Kittens! So sweet! @bubbly1960 that's lovely. Mine is 16.

Love what they said about Grandpa Mason! "For 1069 days, we got to love this glorious ancient "lost cause" feral cat. We got to give him 1069 days surrounded by love, free from pain and smothered in slobbery kitten kisses.
Grandpa Mason showed the world that even if you’re old, sick, feral, broken or different… you have value. You have something to offer. You are worthy of compassion. You matter."

I love cats, quite amusing what they get up to 🤣

SueDonim Thu 05-Sept-24 13:08:00

That’s a lovely post with gorgeous photos - thank you!

We have two almost-one-year cats. We thought long and hard about getting another after our last cat died but these two have brought so much joy to us.

They come from the same breeder but two different litters. The mum of one litter decided that at five weeks, her kittens could fend for themselves and she refused to feed or look after them any more. The other mum took over and was nursing her own five and five adoptees, so ten kittens, and caring for them!

00opsidia Thu 05-Sept-24 13:52:23

Aww so many cute photos, thanks for sharing ladies flowers

I might be biased but this is the best thread I've been on for ages wink

I'm a cat lover and a dog lover who has both. They both eat together and really love each other. I'd probably rather be with them than most people haha.

I love both dogs and cats.
I often watch videos of them on utube just before bed, instead of the news.
I've never had one in this house because dog walkers left faeces on the path at the front and cats left them in the garden.
Now a few years later those problems have more or less gone, and I am contemplating getting a kitten first and seeing how we cope, as we have accumulated a few extra physical difficulties now.

We did get our dog 'fix' from looking after our children's animals though 😊
