Although I already had two cats, I was persuaded to adopt a tiny little girl kitten. The vet told me that my tabby girl would probably mother the kitten but to be careful that my large, ginger tough guy didn't bully her.
Tabby just hissed at the kitten and left the room in disgust as soon as kit appeared. Ginger loved kitten from the word go and he would lovingly groom her and they would cuddle up on the chair together.
One of the things I love about cats is that they know their own minds and don't always behave as you would expect.
They can be aloof and self contained but also loving towards their human and cat companions.
I've never not had cats, as a child and as an adult. They are lovely and I love dogs too. It's heartwarming that some dogs will also do this and that some breeds of dog will happily get along with cats really well and even snuggle up together.
