Once while in a local field I commented on all the dog's poo about & a fellow walker said that it wasn't an issue as the local foxes eat it!!!
Glad I'm not a particularly hungry fox. 😚

French streets have always need hosing down - especially in Paris where "canine ejections" are everywhere (inspite of fines coming in).

Fines don't work either. It's 135 euros in the town where we have a property, plus there are lots of "help yourself" bags, but no one takes any notice. French people look at us in a surprised way when we pick up poos off the beach.

escaped I have never understood this. Even in the "nicest" areas people let their dogs mess up the pavements.

I could not agree more - we stayed in one particular arrondisement in Paris some years ago, and the amount of dog poo was revolting - even in shop doorways, and people were stepping carefully around it. My OH unfortunately trod in one deposit and skidded, almost losing his balance. A serious sense of humour failure resulted, as he had to go back to the hotel, and in fact threw the shoes away.

I think people do it intending to pick it up on the way back.

Our family dog we had back in the 60’s/70’s, there were no such thing of dog poo bags. Don’t think there was any rule. But my parents used to make sure the dog went to poo in the gutter, to pull him carefully over to gutter.

Thank you all for your comments. Glad to see you are as passionate about this as I am. I always pick up, never go out without bags. I look around when I'm collecting my dogs poo and if I see some left by a lazy owner I pick that up in the same bag. If no bins around I bring it home.
It sounds as if Germany has the right idea.

Far too many people own dogs who shouldn’t.

If I can’t find a bin for the poo bag I take it home with me. The same as I would for any type of litter. There are simply too many selfish people around who don’t consider others or their environment. I believe that in Tokyo there aren’t many bins and people simply take their litter home.

I have 2 dogs, I always pick up and carry the bags till I see a bin. No bins means I bring the bags home to go in my own black bin.
There need to be more bins. In my village we have a band of volunteers who litter pick. They’ve set up numerous green plastic bin bags on a hoop holder. They’re emptied frequently. Despite this, like everywhere else we have dog owners who don’t pick up.
My pet dislike are the ‘professional’ dog walkers who drive to our park, open their van doors and let 6-8 dogs run onto the grass . No one can pick up after 8 dogs as well as keep an eye on them as they race about. I’m a grump and would ban anyone walking more than 3 or 4 dogs and insist dogs on leads in parks

We have a dog poo bin on a verge near our house. Sometimes when it’s full people leave their bags on top of it or on the ground nearby.This is disgusting. Why can’t they take it home or find another bin?

It’s vile. It’s everywhere. Disgusting. Why on earth are there so many dogs everywhere I go!

I don't have a do but I do love dogs - long story! It is the height of responsibility to leave bags if dog poo hanging on trees or hedgerows - why on earth would anyone do that - disgusting behaviour.
Dogs can be trained to ' get busy' in their own gardens. If that is not possible for whatever reason , use a poo bin or take it home and pop it in the non recycling wheelie bin . It's not difficult!

It's not the fault of the dogs, it's irresponsible owners. On the other hand, dogs don't drop litter, fly tip or leave needles or other drug paraphernalia lying around. Give me dogs over humans any day of the week.

Then we are both 'grumps'. I feel sorry for the collection of dogs - sometimes about eight - being dragged along, large and small, with the tinier ones desperately trying to keep up and keep out of the way of much bigger animals. Those who do this are not dog lovers - they are running a business and the dogs are a commodity. Sadly people often feel as 'Skydancer' does - they perhaps begin to get annoyed with the dogs, but we all have to 'go', and they don't have the advantage of a bathroom. The truth is that with dogs, the problems are invariably at the other end of the lead.

Excuse the graphic description, but I also walk 2 large dogs, (who do large poos!), and I usually fill 3 bags. If I'm stopping at the Mill for coffee and cake, I don't take the bags in with me, but leave them on a branch where the walk veers left over thd bridge. I then go back for them later. It's the best I can do given the situation.

We pick our dog’s doings up and put them in a bin or bring them home. Even though there are plenty of poo/litter bins near us which are emptied by a man in a pristine white truck, some folk still leave it unbagged.
My funniest dog poo story?
We live at the top of a hill and people walk their dogs past the end of our garden. When one exhausted dog owner began to walk away from their dog’s poo, the sound of our dog barking, and us looking out at her caused her to turn back and walk up the path where she very apologetically asked if we could lend her a poo bag as she had come out without any.
We gave her a handful as a gift, not a loan and mentioned the bin at the end of the road.
Responsible dog owners, even without their dog, are the ones you sometimes see pull out a tissue when they sneeze, and find it’s a poo bag!

I avoid street walks with either of our dogs as the bigger issue is food related litter dropped and discarded by people. Trying to remove a half eaten pieces and packets of food from my dogs' mouths is far more prevalent than dog excrement.

Oh yes, many a time I've done this - or gone into my pocket to find a pound coin for the shopping trolley and pulled out poo bags!
