(266 Posts)
KatGransnet (GNHQ) Mon 21-Oct-13 10:46:05

This thread is for the 100 gransnetters who have been chosen to trial No7 Restore & Renew Day & Night serum.

Here’s what Boots had to say, “No7 is the UK’s leading skincare brand. NEW No7 Restore& Renew Day & Night Serum is specifically formulated for more mature skin and actively targets the five key signs of ageing: wrinkles, lack of firmness, uneven pigmentation, fragility and dull skin. In clinical trials, after four weeks of use, both light-reflecting characteristics and levels of natural moisture return to similar levels of younger skin. New Restore & Renew Day & Night Serum is our fourth clinically proven serum meaning that we have a clinically proven serum for every stage of a woman’s life. We have had great results from our clinical trial and user testing, but we’d love to hear what gransnetters think about the product as well.”

We’d like you to use the product each day and night for at least four weeks, but preferably for the full eight weeks. Feel free to post your feedback on this thread as often as you like while using the serums.

When you're ready please answer the following questions:

Q1: What were your overall impressions of No7 Restore & Renew Day & Night serum?

Q2. After using Restore & Renew Day & Night serum for four weeks, how significantly has your skin changed in the following areas? If so please give details.
· Lines and wrinkles
· Firmness
· Pigmentation
· Fragility
· Skin’s radiance

Q3. The RRP for No7 Restore & Renew Day & Night serum is £24.95, do you think you'd be likely to buy the product again or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the serums to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Everyone who adds their feedback to this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a No7 skincare bundle worth over £100.

Please note, Boots may use any comments posted on this thread in marketing, editorial and/or promotional material so please only post if you are happy with this.

Thanks and good luck,

GNHQ

I have been using the serum now for three weeks (it arrived when I was away, so I'm a late starter!). I have been conscientious about applying each as appropriate, night and morning, before using other No 7 products. Read suggestion that a "pea size" amount of serum be used each time, but even so, supplies are running low. I haven't noticed any difference in skin tone, wrinkles, pigmentation, etc., although possibly an improvement in the way foundation goes on i.e. it seems to be going on more smoothly and not "sitting" on one or two dry areas of my skin, which is an improvement. Sadly, I can't afford to buy the serum if they don't last more than four weeks each time, and to be honest I don't think I would do so if they were cheaper, either. If things improve before the supply dries up, I will let you know. smile

One month on.

Goes on smoothly and pleasantly scented.

I do not feel that the wrinkles are any better especially where i wanted (around my mouth) but skin feels soft and smooth.

i have already bought more in 3 for 2, allowing me to buy one for my daughter
in her age group.I feel it is a bit pricey for our age group.Whether I buy any more depends on results after using my bought ones which should be a good test, length wise.

Recommendation to others would depend on later results.

Thank you for the chance to try samples.I was already a fan of No7.

Firstly it went on very smoothly, it was non greasy and I liked that very much. However the wrinkles did not lessen, but I thought that an age spot I have on my face reduced slightly. I did feel that my skin was firmer and looked and felt better for that. The cost for pensioners is high and I think this would deter many from trying it. I would certainly try it for a bit longer if finances allowed and I think a bit longer testing may also provide better results.
I would chose this over others I have tried and would certainly chose again if only in the hope it might prevent wrinkles getting worse with further use, due to the firmer skin aspect which I felt was promising.

I would recommend this to selected friends who could afford it, and tell others to ask for it for a birthday or christmas present and try it for themselves.
Thank you for letting me trial this, I found it interesting and so did friends whom I requested give their opinion on my skin appearance too flowers

General first impressions: Both serums were easy to apply and went on well. It would have helped to know how much to apply. I do feel that I needed quite a bit of the serum, especially the daytime serum for the whole face and nexk than I have used for other brands.

I wasn't too keen on the perfume, and would have preferred another, less strong perfume or no perfume at all.

The skin felt soft and smooth and the effect lasted till the next application. The skin did not feel dry and parched.

I feel that the lines on my upper lip have improved slightly, though I'm not sure if it was the serum or the moisturiser, as the advice asked us to use moisturiser as well.

I'm not sure if it improved the firmness of the facial skin as my skin is pretty firm. The skin on my neck hasn't firmed up yet. The pigmentation on my face has certainly improved.
I'm not sure about the fragility of the skin, but my skin has a fair glow and I'm not sure if it has improved.

I think I would try and buy the product once and continue to use it to get a longer trial and see how I feel. If the skin continued to improve, I would continue to use it, if not, I'd stop. It is an expensive product if it is bought together with the moisturiser and night cream.

If it came up in conversation I would certainly tell my friends abut my experience with the serum and suggest they tried it, as it seems to work.
smile

I enjoyed using the serum I found it easy to put on and it sunk into the skin quickly. I have found no difference to my wrinkles but I have found my skin is much brighter. During the time of using the serum I had a virus but my skin still looked good and quite bright.
I would love to go on using it but I am afraid the cost would prevent me as I am on a pension.
Thanks for the trial.

I have been applying the serums as directed; strangely the night one has already run out, although there is still a little of the day serum left. I liked the perfume and found the serums very easy to apply. My skin feels soft and, I think, a little firmer. I have noticed in particular that my forehead feels smoother - as if my wrinkles have disappeared (difficult to see them sometimes with my eyesight!). My DH has commented that my skin does look better.

I have used the Boots serums and moisturisers/day creams before and I do like them; however, I also feel that my skin benefits from a change every so often, so I tend to use things, and then try something else, but sometimes go back if I feel it's worth it. I would definitely buy at least one of the serums again - probably the night one. I think for people on a limited budget the serums are probably too expensive to use regularly, as I guess you are talking about £50 every six to eight weeks.

Thank you for choosing me to try the serums - I would certainly recommend them to friends.

Jaxie Mon 18-Nov-13 23:00:15

1 It glides on the skin easily.
2 It doesn't seem to have had any effect on my lines & wrinkles.
3 I think my skin does look more "radiant" if that is the word.
4 It is too expensive; the tubes are extremely small and it's difficult to extract the last remaining serum.
5 I think I would recommend it, as I trust Boots. I reserve judgement until I've been using it for the full 8 weeks, if the tubes last that long.

Q1. Serums feel good on the skin and were easily applied, quickly absorbed and pleasantly perfumed.

Q2. I saw an improvement in the fine lines around my mouth and eyes soon after I started to use the products. My skin feels softer and looks brighter but I haven't noticed any difference in firmness.

Q3. I like the serums very much but I am retired and I think the price would be prohibitive for me.

Q4. If it came up in conversation, I would recommend the serums to my friends but I'm not sure that they would be able to afford the product either.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to sample the serums.

Grannylin Tue 19-Nov-13 09:56:21

Q1 Easy to use and not too perfumed
Q2 No difference whatsoever in the appearance of my skin but the serum does moisturise
Q3 Too expensive and I would not buy
Q4 I would not recommend as I can get the same effect from a far cheaper product.

Elegran Tue 19-Nov-13 15:26:47

Q1: Overall impressions - Attractive packaging, pleasant outer pack colour and I like the different colours for day and night tubes. The caps on the tubes are big enough to handle with slightly messy hands without them slipping.
The font size of the ingredients lists on outer and tubes is too small to read without a magnifying glass. As the target buyers are likely to be older women with less than perfect vision, a slip-in paper insert in the outer with the details listed in a larger font would be appreciated.
Texture of the serums is good, not greasy but goes on easily, smell not overpowering. The quantity lasts longer than expected at first sight.

Q2. After four weeks
· Lines and wrinkles - the smaller ones are slightly less noticeable, but deeper lines unaffected.
· Firmness - Improved somewhat.
· Pigmentation - No effect on moderate age spots.
· Fragility - It was not fragile to start with.
· Skin’s radiance - The clarity seems improved. It seems to lift dead skin, which shows a fresher layer below.

Q3. At £24.95 (for the two), would you buy the product again?
As an occasional pick-me-up, yes. As a continuing routine it is rather expensive. If they were sold separately, for half that, the cost would spread out more evenly. Several sellers on Ebay have the pair of tubes for £15, free P/P.

Q4. Recommend?
Yes, with all the above provisos.

Elegran Tue 19-Nov-13 15:29:01

Pack of these day/night tubes is on several Ebay sellers for £15, free PP.

pedalssyren Tue 19-Nov-13 16:13:11

I have enjoyed using the serum and had high hopes for an improvement in the condition of my skin. However after using it for about 4 weeks I can't see any change to the firmness or pigmentation and sadly the lines are still there sad
The serum glides on easily and makes the skin feel very smooth and soft, creating a kind of 'undercoat' for my normal moisturiser. I would like to try it for a little longer to give it more of a chance but it is rather expensive so I think this is unlikely.
I don't think I could recommend it to a friend at this price.
Thanks for giving me the opportunity though flowers

DeeWhyO Tue 19-Nov-13 20:17:43

Agree wholeheartedly with previous Gransnetters that it's been really nice to be part of the trial. Like the product, easy to apply, absorbs well & not greasy at all. Would have liked the tubes to be slightly bigger, as not sure I've been applying enough to really see a difference to the lines/wrinkles & so have concentrated mainly around the eyes. Can't say for sure if there's a visible improvement but at this time of year skin feels drier because of colder weather anyway. Feel the price is quite high & would probably spend the extra money on more expensive day/night creams for, possibly, a similar effect.

maxdrans Wed 20-Nov-13 12:40:25

Overall very impressed with this serum still some left so perhaps I did not put enough on
2 did see slight improvement in lines and wrinkles
My skin is firmer
Idid not notice any difference in pigmentation or fragility
But I think my skin is more radiant
3 i have already purchased more with 3 for 2
4 I would recommend this product to my friends as Ido not think the price is too prohibitive considering I still have some left .I have paid a lot more for serums in the past with not such good results .Thank you boots for letting me try it

dustyangel Wed 20-Nov-13 17:45:30

My overall impressions were very good. I liked the two different coloured tubes and the little piece of plastic that stopped them rolling around. Both made life simpler. I would have liked more information on how much to use rather than deducing it from this thread. The perfume was light enough not to notice after a few days use.
I think there is a very slight difference in my fine lines although I doubt if anyone else would notice but I think the early morning crumpled look is not as bad.
I haven't noticed any difference in pigmentation.
My skin feels firmer and when I use make up, it goes on more easily.
After about 3 weeks DH said out of the blue that my skin looked clearer than normal then hastened to add that he didn't mean it wasn't usually!
He hadn't noticed me applying the serum twice a day.
I will decide whether to buy No. 7 Restore and Renew serum when I haven't been using it for a couple of weeks. It is expensive although I have found that I don't need use as much moisturiser so that is a saving.
I would recommend it if it came up in conversation as overall my skin feels better even if it doesn't look very different.
After 4 weeks I still have some left and will be sorry when it is finished as I have enjoyed using it.

Jennypenny Wed 20-Nov-13 20:47:57

Thank you forgiving me the opportunity to test to test the products. Answers as follows.

1. Overall Impression

Very pleased. Different coloured tubes helpful, creams quickly absorbed. Wasn't using enough at first then read a pea sized blob recommended and this worked well. Instructions needed! Skin felt hydrated and comfortable.

2. After 4 weeks

Skin looks fresh and glowing, as much as it can at aged 65! Used the serum in conjunction with No 7 hot cloth cleanser and day and night cream. Skin feels smooth and firm. Think the biggest improvement is my neck, but it hasn't previously had this much attention.

3. Would you buy this product again.

Don't think so, it would be too expensive to spend £24.95 per month plus purchase the other creams, even if on offer. Might treat myself occasionally.

4. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

petallus Wed 20-Nov-13 21:26:00

My daytime serum has run out but there is still plenty left in the one for nighttime even though I used both each day. I wonder if this could be because skin is dryer in the morning when I have been in the shower, washing my hair, than in the evening.

pattieb Thu 21-Nov-13 11:01:16

I have really enjoyed being part of this trial. The product is quite nice, easy to apply, absorbs well & not greasy. Not sure that there is any improvement my cheeks seem more dry but that might be due to the colder weather. It seems quite expensive. so probably wouldn't buy unless it was on 'special offer'

Q1: What were your overall impressions of No7 Restore & Renew Day & Night serum?
A1) I like it. After 4 weeks still have at least another weeks use in the tubes. The serum provides a good base for my moisturiser and have not used a Primer(after moisturiser and before foundation) during the trial as it did not seem necessary.

Q2. After using Restore & Renew Day & Night serum for four weeks, how significantly has your skin changed in the following areas? If so please give details.
· Lines and wrinkles
· Firmness
· Pigmentation
· Fragility
· Skin’s radiance
A2) My skin is definately smoother and more radiant but not noticed any difference with the firmness or lines/wrinkles. (Maybe because of continued use of Boots Lift & Luminate serums?)

Q3. The RRP for No7 Restore & Renew Day & Night serum is £24.95, do you think you'd be likely to buy the product again or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
A3) Yes, would continue to use it, rather than the Lift and Luminate which I usually buy.

Q4. Would you recommend to a friend.
A4) Yes

I have been using the samples for 5 weeks and there seems to still be quite a lot left in the tubes so I am hoping for great improvements in the next three weeks! I have enjoyed using the products, they replaced an Estée Lauder one I was using. I am not sure that there has been much change in the wrinkles, perhaps a little on the fine lines above my lip. I will report back when I have finished the tubes.

Q1 Overall impression - as has already been said re packaging: excellent!!.

Q2 I had to wait 6 days for the rosacea to quieten down which is still there although my skin does feel good.

Q3 I would buy it again if it were half again as big. Too pricey with current size.

I would recommend to anyone. Am a big fan of Protect etc., I just need someone to come up with something to take away the Rosacea.
I think possibly remove the scent.
