DP having a lie in so I start to make some boiled eggs for myself and DS. DP surfaces so I tell him he can have my egg because I was not that bothered. How long has it been on? he asks. I told him to look at the timer next to the cooker to which he replied I don't use a timer I don't know how they work! This man was a manager of over 100 staff ! I told him to stop being so bl####y awkward at which point by stomped off saying he did not want the egg!angry

I might have said this before, but it's my impression that my DSs and their peer group are far more domesticated than their dads' generation. Is that down to us, their mothers or to the feisty young women they've wound up with?

Last Christmas I had two Christmas dinners (separated by a few days), one cooked by DS, one by DSiL. Can't say about DSiL, but I was determined that any potential DiL was not going to accuse me of having brought up a man who couldn't cook or do his own washing.
