I don’t want to offend anyone but I’ve just discovered that my dh wees in the shower! It was mentioned on a tv programme and I asked dh if he ever did that and he admitted that he does when he’s caught short! I was shocked and I am no way a prude. What do others think of this?

Teetime Thu 15-Nov-18 13:34:42

Lots of people do it.

Nanabilly Thu 15-Nov-18 13:38:21

At least he was honest !
Have you got no habits that might make his toes curl? Go on be completely honest!

FlexibleFriend Thu 15-Nov-18 13:39:57

I do it too, can't see what's so shocking tbh.

oldbatty Thu 15-Nov-18 13:51:16

How did you find out?

Gonegirl Thu 15-Nov-18 13:56:42

Eurgh!!! That's truly horrible. Toilets are for weeding in.

Gonegirl Thu 15-Nov-18 13:57:27

No. Weeing.

KatyK Thu 15-Nov-18 14:02:15

There was a discussion about this on This Morning recently. Most people said they did it. confused

Gonegirl Thu 15-Nov-18 14:07:26

This has put me off holiday cottages.

kittylester Thu 15-Nov-18 14:11:14

It's the running water that does it!

stella1949 Thu 15-Nov-18 14:11:46

What's the problem ? I'd guess that most people do that at times. I've done it myself. There is plenty of water washing it away !

Willow10 Thu 15-Nov-18 15:07:27

I must be a bad person, because the minute I step in the shower I just can't help it - even if I've just been! The running water sets me off. I may be wrong but doesn't the water all join up along the pipes and go into the same drainage system anyway?

DanniRae Thu 15-Nov-18 15:44:50

Yep I do it and don't see a problem.

aggie Thu 15-Nov-18 15:49:56

We were told it saved water during the last hot spell smile

Sparklefizz Thu 15-Nov-18 15:54:59

Willow I think it's a different water system - the toilets drain into sewage pipes, and baths, washing machines, showers, etc drain into "grey water" ..... but I could be wrong, and no doubt people will be quick to tell me if I am!!

Farmor15 Thu 15-Nov-18 15:56:14

I discovered my DH does it. Never thought of doing it myself but realised it wasn’t actually a problem. Tried it myself once recently but it felt odd?. Plenty of water to wash it away though, so I don’t think it’s a dirty habit.

ninathenana Thu 15-Nov-18 16:00:52

I don't see the problem.

Why holiday cottages Gonegirl ?
Do you think people don't do it in hotels or B&Bs, and maybe even worse things.

BlueBelle Thu 15-Nov-18 16:02:14

Why is it horrible it goes straight down the drain your re not standing in wee I don’t see a problem in this at all I wouldn’t wee in a bath or swimming pool but don’t think there’s a problem in my shower the drain hole is right under the shower head so it goes straight down not even touching the sides ?

Gonegirl Thu 15-Nov-18 16:04:10

OMG Ninathenana. I'm never going away again.

M0nica Thu 15-Nov-18 16:09:01

All water, grey or sewage, goes down the same soil stack and into the same sewer. If you want to harvest grey water to use it to flush loos or water the garden you need to have a completely separate plumbing system with a (usually) underground tank to collect the water and redirect it round again.

Shower trays all slope down to the drain and there is gallons of water coming through the shower to dilute it and instantly wash it away.

I am among those who cannot see a problem.

Gonegirl Thu 15-Nov-18 16:13:11

Don't most shower cubicles have a toilet right next to them...?

merlotgran Thu 15-Nov-18 16:13:59

I'm sure my DH does it but I'm not going to bother asking him.

He probably thinks it makes a nice change from the compost heap. grin

MissAdventure Thu 15-Nov-18 16:15:18

Its probably cleaner than using the toilet for some men, considering the mess they leave around the pan.

Gonegirl Thu 15-Nov-18 16:17:02

Ah yes! The compost heap. That's different. There's a good reason for that.

Sparklefizz Thu 15-Nov-18 16:28:55

Thanks Monica re the grey water explanation. I knew someone would put me right if applicable.
