No, I'm not rising to that. This is not the playground. What are you trying to do, divide and rule.

Good Morning Monday 20th April 2026
Dear friends,
This is the article which I mentioned on the Spiritual page yesterday.
Please keep an open mind while reading it, and remember that we should always respect another persons beliefs, even if you don't agree with them!
We all have our own views on such a sensitive subject as "Religion"!
Who is God?
Well folks, this is my idea on God!
I hope it does not offend anyone, but it may give something to think on!
I think that God, as we are taught, is a Spirit, We have been led to believe in God as a person, whom we take after ; - This makes it easier to explain, as people in general cannot accept a more ethereal being that is not bound by time or space,.
God is the Spirit of life; it runs through all living things. Therefore we are part of God and the God Spirit is part of us!
(I trust that this does not sound like blasphemy to anybody. These are my own thoughts expressed here!)
Life is sacred, and we all have free will. We have a moral code, laid down by wise leaders over many thousands of years.
Ideally, we use our conscience to behave and live by that moral code.
I believe in a power, much stronger than we can imagine, whose strength we can call upon to strengthen and help us when we ask. This is always available to all, no matter whether you have a faith or not, Of course, as with all things, if you have faith, you are a more positive person which uses your stronger inner strength!
I call that powerful Spirit GOD!
Many religions recognise God in different ways, and I think that each of us has their own pathway to tread. We should not force our own thoughts upon other people.
I am proud to be a Christian, but I respect other points of view!
Jesus is widely recognised as a great Teacher in other religions and respected as such.
As for natural disasters, I have no answer. For crimes of war, brutality, injustice, etc. I bring in the argument of "Free Will" again!
, This does not address all of the points raised, i.e., sickness, but this again is a natural phenomena caused by environmental and other conditions, some of which are man made! - Free will again!
Nature has a way of protecting itself, which is not always in our best interests!!
Sorry if I've gone on a bit with my ramblings. It may provoke a bigger discussion!

O.K. Alison, let's cut to the chase. Do you think I am arrogant, bullying, rude, superior, etc. or were you referring to some other members?
Now, jingle, you would be shouting 'offensive' if I replied in that way.
Greatnan I think "You can't expect to get away with your continual innuendos about people being superior, arrogant, bullying, etc. without being challenged to produce proof." Is pretty rude! I don't think I have made any innuendos (an allusion or oblique remark) I have said what I have said very openly. Can you produce proof otherwise?
I think you are asking something very difficult because it would be 'personal comments' which are not allowed on GN. Just like "J'accuse AlisonMA is a personal comment.
Oh JO4 Bags is about the most rational and logical poster on Gransnet. She jokes about His Noodliness but I'm pretty sure that we have no real evidence about white witchcraft or any other absurd superstitions in her life, though she has made some humorous references to broomsticks from time to time.
JO4 Be honest. Do you read your horoscope in newspapers and/or magazines and/or the internet?
Greatnan take it how you like.
Bags I aim to please.
jings, thank you for making me laugh
Cheers for the FSM! Of course I believe in His Noodliness! Who wouldn't? He's a great joke.
Goota go. Got dragons to follow.
That is rather offensive, jingle! I am sure there are lots of messages of support being sent to Alison, as she has told us in the past.
absent I think Bags believes in all of those as well.
That was to Bags about her flying monster.
Is Bags' "His Noodliness" any different from those people (Wicca?) who believe in the Goddess (or the Crone)? How about an elephant god? What about Satanists? I would suggest that the latter are very sad sexual failures and control freaks – is that offensive?
What private messaging JO4? I have one from AlisonMA who says I am being personal although I have commented only on her public postings.
Exactly.
Marelli I don't think JO4 sounded patronising and I don't think anyone has been patronising about 'different' people. Have I missed something? Its quite possible with all the to-ing and fro-ing. And no, don't mistunderstand me, I'm not having a go, just asking a question!
What's offensive about the Flying Spaghetti Monster? It's a piss-take, that's all.
As the Dragons say "I'm out" ...
.
Alison, when I challenged you to say if your nasty comments referred to me, your reply was 'If the cap fits'.
As a matter of fact, the cap does not fit and I am still waiting for anyone to point to a post where I have been personally rude or offensive. Disagreeing with somebody's ideas or beliefs is neither.
Bags I am not talking about that sort of thing. Look back a bit and you will see a personal attack. Beliefs which differ from one's own are quite acceptable. Being unpleasant and inventing things to criticise which were not in the post referred to is an entirely different matter.
J04, I know you didn't mean to sound patronising.
The thing is, even these days, when there's a greater awareness of people whose needs are 'different' (note I didn't use the term 'special needs'?) well-meaning people can be quite patronising...'does he take sugar?' etc. Anyway, this is really getting away from the original thread!
I agree, Alison. But if someone tells me that my belief that rain falls from the sky because god wants it to is ridiculous and that they hold that view because there are much more easily believable scientific explanations for rain which don't involve gods, that is not personal. It's my belief that is being "attacked", not me.
JO4 I know exactly where you are coming from. I've said it before and I know it didn't go down well, but a little more sensitivity to other people's feelings might make things so much better and avoid all this nastiness.
I've no doubt the private messages are now flying!
Greatnan perhaps there are no 'veiled comments' on your personality, I haven't seen any. I think you may be reading things where they do not exist.
There is nothing humourous about the way it is put over. Only to a small circle of like minded posters. with no concern for anyone else's feelings.
Bags is entitled to believe in any entity she chooses. A bit of humour is surely not offensive?
Alright Bags. How about when you bring up that weird "monster" thingie that you sometimes speak of, and seem to present it as an alternative religion. How could that not be taken as offensive.
You know quite well that you and others on here often have a ball being offensive about religion.
