Granddaughter in Intensive Care

We got a call from our daughter just before coming to bed to say our six year old granddaughter is in hospital, for the second time in three months. We were able to see and speak to our granddaughter and she was on oxygen and antibiotics then, but she was finding breathing difficult. I’ve now just had a text to say she’s been moved to Intensive Care (she’s in NZ).

She had double pneumonia and a collapsed lung last time and although she became really very poorly she didn’t deteriorate anything like as quickly as she has done today. She has a compromised immune system having been born extremely prematurely and I’m concerned that the struggle to breathe may affect her heart.

So please, if you’re a pray-er would you pray for her? ?? She needs all the help she can get.

Happy for you.

That's good news GrannyActivist so pleased you are all
improving especially little GD.

When you first posted I put in a special long pray to the Shrine
at Lourdes for all of you. Everyone is not of great faith but I see many on this thread were praying for you. Sometimes prayers are not answered for certain reasons yours have been heard and you have had a lovely outcome from all of us who wished you well.

This is the best post ever!

A word of warning with steroids - when she stops taking them, you might see a regression in her progress
As useful as they are, they can be very tricky

Luckygirl Wed 07-Jul-21 16:39:32

UPDATE:
Good news ❤️‍? the new steroid treatment has worked and our granddaughter is now breathing independently! I had a FaceTime call from her this morning and it was like talking to a different child, she was alert, smiling and able to chat.

I also had an operation this morning and that went well too, so today is a red letter day!

I cannot say ‘thank you’ enough for all your prayers, good wishes and overwhelming messages of support during the past week. This kind of situation is where Gransnet really excels at providing a safe space for worries to be shared and I have appreciated it enormously.
