Lovely, but for me nothing beats the purity of a boy soprano ‘s voice as in this version by Aled Jones and chorister Malakai Bayoh

I love that version, and the words are the ones I'm familiar with. Just beautiful! It was so good Aled's voice was still fantastic after puberty.

I don’t know how to do links, but on YouTube - Jussi Bjorling is the one that gives me goosebumps, there is also a belting version by Kelly Clarkson, sung live at the Rockefeller Centre.

Thanks so much for that link. It's so beautiful. I love Andrea's voice.

I listened to Andrea Bocelli and his son, Matteo last night, sung in French and English. Sublime

Malakai Bayoh’s rendition of Pie Jesu is beautiful.

Maddyone what a truly wonderful present indeed. A great memory to have. How thoughtful of your children.

I didn't know that Joseann. Thanks.
It was filmed in St Paul's Cathedral.
I've listened to the duet by Aled and Malakai. Its lovely, such powerful voices. I like Aled Jones very much.
I think what I love especially about Andrea Bocelli's version are the words.
Nanna8 Glad you liked it. Yes, he's a wonderful singer. I've been fortunate enough to see him in concert - my Christmas present last year from my husband.

Oh Holy Night and Bocelli, a perfect combination.
For my sixtieth birthday my three children combined to give me a wonderful gift of tickets to a Bocelli concert, which he performs every year in his home village in Italy. I don’t know if he still does it but he did then anyway. It takes place in July each year. They included the flights, hotel, and hire car. It was a really wonderful gift and a marvellous experience. I love listening to Bocelli.

Both are beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing.

Alex and Malakai's rendition is wonderful too.

Joseann Fri 22-Dec-23 22:22:50

Yes, it sends shivers.
Did you know the music was written by the same man who composed the ballet Giselle? I think the Carol was the one sung by a French soldier in the trenches during the Franco-Prussian war before a truce was called.
Where is that video filmed? It's beautiful.

He is a wonderful singer, isn’t he ?

My favourite Christmas carol. I listen to this all year.
Sung in French, subtitled, different words to the usual. Much nicer I think.
