That's lovely, dusty.

Here are some of this week's colours in my garden

dustyangel Sun 29-Sep-13 17:42:59

Beautiful colours, I'm hoping that the south of Britain will be full of Autumn colour when I'm there in a few weeks. Meanwhile all colour here is bleached away and waiting for fresh growth to come through.

I'm envious of your macro camera.
And your posting skills, I shall practise again later. smile

Where are you at the moment, dusty?

dustyangel Sun 29-Sep-13 21:10:19

In the Algarve, up in the hills. Also in the clouds all day today, rain sweeping across and we keep losing the internet.

grin I thought that I hadn't been able to post a photo.

That was the praying mantis before I rescued it and put it back in the garden.

Brought in a wee bit of photinia this morning

dustyangel Sat 12-Apr-14 11:29:52

How beautiful!
I've never heard of this before, just had a quick google to find out a bit more about it. I gather it's a shrub sometimes used for hedging. Yours looks so delicate and quite exotic, I wouldn't have thought it came from as far north as you are.

thatbags Sat 12-Apr-14 18:45:29

It isn't a British or even a European native, dusty. I think the shrub is native to China. The bush we have was in the garden when we moved here. Some are a lot darker than ours. It is looking particularly good this year smile

Where ever it comes from, Bags it is totally beautiful !
Does it have fragrance ??

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 12-Apr-14 19:11:12

Bags I have got that identical vase! shock

Is yours 12 cms tall?

(you take lovely pics)

Ana Sat 12-Apr-14 19:17:26

12 cms is tiny! confused

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 12-Apr-14 19:20:29

Well - Bags said it was a wee bit of photinia.

(it's not that tiny!)

Ana Sat 12-Apr-14 19:22:22

No, you're right it isn't that tiny. It's hard to tell from the photos how big the flowers are.

thatbags Sat 12-Apr-14 19:24:53

Mine is more like 14cm, jings. Bought it in a charity shop a few years ago and found it at the back of a shelf today when I was looking for a small vase cos the photinia was looking so nice and I thought I'd cut a sprig or two.

thatbags Sat 12-Apr-14 19:25:42

It's a one bud vase, I think. Heavy marble but with a small bore for the water.

thatbags Sat 12-Apr-14 19:27:20

nonu, no fragrance. I avoid fragrances indoors cos they make me sneezy and headachey.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 12-Apr-14 19:50:36

My vase with a wee bit of yellow stuff. (mine came from Turkey via daughter's school trip years ago)

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 12-Apr-14 19:52:02

(it's marble too) smile

Nonu Sat 12-Apr-14 19:55:33

Fair enough BAGS mind the lovliness of the flower, doesn't really need scent.
Bit like fushcias, one of my favourites !

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 12-Apr-14 19:59:07

Actually I think it might be onyx. a bit like this one
