If you could choose be a flower, which would it be?

If you could choose to be a flower, which would it be? Or maybe you don't like flowers and would choose none smile.

I would choose to be a bluebell because they are gentle, dainty and peaceful looking. My father used to take us rambling when my brother, sister and I were children. We would go into the most beautiful woodlands, which were lush and green, and filled with bluebells growing peacefully in the dappled sunlight.

If I were a bluebell, I would choose to grow in a woodland with my fellow bluebells and listen to the tinkling of a nearby stream. Birds and wildlife would visit, and perhaps a human or two; little children delighting in the sight of us. And when night fell, a badger or fox would visit ... and perhaps even a fairy or two ... grin Oops! getting carried away now, lol!

I already am one. My name is a beautiful weed. And before anyone says anything , it is not Dandelion.

stargazer lily.

I would be an old fashioned rose, sweet smelling, beautiful to behold but be
careful of my thorns

I’d be a hollyhock, tall and elegant and lasting into late summer.

This question immediately made me think of a wonderful English teacher we had at school, who swept into our form room one cold February morning saying “I wonder how it feels to be a snowdrop?”.

I like the way you ve described me Fairycakes

I would choose to be a lily-of-the-valley, my favourite flower.

Just that really.

Shinamae Tue 31-Oct-23 16:12:35

Snapdragon! 😁

Lomo123 Tue 31-Oct-23 16:15:39

Tulip. My favourite spring flowers.

Allsorts Tue 31-Oct-23 16:18:08

A beautiful scented rose, just before it comes into full flower. I’m afraid my petals are now falling off.

Callistemon21 Tue 31-Oct-23 16:19:55

I'm a shrub!
Nothing too delicate but the bees love me 🙂

Joseann Tue 31-Oct-23 16:36:10

When I was a little girl, I always wanted to be a tulip because Thumbelina emerged from one.
Now, I'd like to be a sunflower, bright and warm.

I’d be with you in the woodland fairycakes

a Daisy simple delicate to look at but hardy ,the first wee daisies in the ground outside our garden always make me smile . I love them paired with gypsophilia in vases and in baskets as gifts for new mums. They are such innocent and welcoming wee faces ,always been a favourite I even had them as my wedding flowers

I’m with your English teacher Grandma70s, I’d be a Snowdrop.
They’ve been my favourite flower for longer than I care to remember. The first show of Spring, beautiful and brave as they poke their way through often frozen soil and hang their lovely heads shyly downwards. They have just finished here.

Right now a rose with huge prickly thorns so I could stab those sending me hateful emails in the hope of getting their own way. Normally I’d like to be a deep scented Paeony or a perfumed violet.

Kim19 Tue 31-Oct-23 17:25:45

I would be a gaillardia. Bright, cheerful and always makes me smile.

Sara1954 Tue 31-Oct-23 17:31:00

Aquilegia, my all time favourite flower.
Wild and beautiful, and just a bit old fashioned
(I’m just the old fashioned bit)

SachaMac Tue 31-Oct-23 17:35:34

I’d be a daffodil, I was born in the spring & the picture on my peg at Infant school was a daffodil. A vase of daffs in the window always cheers me up, a sure sign brighter days are on the way.

Bridie22 Tue 31-Oct-23 17:46:57

A sunflower, big and bright and always warm in the sunflower 🌻

Georgesgran Tue 31-Oct-23 18:37:27

Can I be a hyacinth 🪻 please - an indoor one to start off with, then I’d be transferred into the garden for subsequent years.

lixy Tue 31-Oct-23 18:56:57

London Pride I think - tough as old boots!

Lots of great answers. I'm enjoying reading them all smile

Freesia, I love the delicate smell and the colours. I had them in my wedding bouquet.
