Nothing no cars no people going past

We live in a cul-de-sac which has a gunnel to the fields at the end so apart from the odd car we get dog walkers.

Just some idiot trying to chase lambs back into their field, no chance! They just come out another hole. They go back to mum when they are hungry.

We live in a cul de sac, at the end. Just parrots and other wildlife ,no visible humans. It’s lovely and peaceful.

On the edge of a small village with a road that comes alive after about 8 a.m. as people go about their business. Bit of blue sky promising to shine and one very noisy bird in the garden who never seems to sleep - bless it!

2.00pm. the street outside has been silent for several minutes since the last car went down it.

I'm staying in a guest house in town. There's the same elderly man just pacing up and down, then sitting on the steps. Seem to be lots of single older men just wandering. Further along I can see a girl in a onesie smoking on the steps.

Peaceful, no road traffic.

Lotsof folk gardening,I,m just having a break.Couple of wee boys going back and forth on bikes, three wee ones in the culdesac playing with a ball.
The cheers from the rugby pitch behind the houses across the road. Y other half cursing under his breath because he just cut through the cable whilst trimming the hedge.
Not a cloud to be seen.

Today silence apart from the odd quack and honk from the ducks and geese on the canal behind our house. 🦆 🦆

I live on a long terraced street that is crossed by the A16 not far from my house. There is a terrace of houses between it & my house which shields us from traffic noise. There is a pedestrian/cycle subway under the A16 which cuts the street so I'm essentially on a cul de sac.

It's quiet at the moment. Just the occasional person or cyclist going past. I can see 6 parked cars - the 3 parked on this side are all black estates.

Romola Sat 25-Apr-26 15:15:32

This morning, a mass cycle ride, hundreds of them. Our road is part of a national cycle route, so we always have cyclists.

Right now all I can see is water and all I can hear is water. It might get a bit more exciting as we enter the Bay of Biscay later this evening.

It's suspiciously quiet, considering that we live very close to a recreation ground. I can only suppose that most people have gone to Blackpool for the day.

Grandma70s Sat 25-Apr-26 15:59:33

Cloudless blue sky, total silence. I can’t even hear any birds.

JamesandJon33 Sat 25-Apr-26 16:17:25

Nothing much. The occasional dog walker going down to the beach. Someone near mowing the lawn, and the three nests in our tree are full of noisy jackdaws.

MiniMoon Sat 25-Apr-26 16:36:11

I have no idea. I'm on a train.

AGAA4 Sat 25-Apr-26 16:42:57

I live in a conservation area and very quiet usually. Early morning the dog walkers go past on their way to the country park which is a few minutes from my home.
At the moment there is nothing going on apart from the breeze rustling through the trees.

There are three posters who’ve given really specific info on where they live, and on other threads exactly which town/city.
Is this wise on a public forum for older people?

New poster starting several inquisitive threads?

Cynical, moi?

Pretty quiet as I’m on the edge of a nature reserve. People pass on their way to the sandhills and I can hear the children playing in the garden next door, which I like to hear and wood pigeons.

I’d really prefer FGTs site in a way, as I grew up in a city and fancy a balcony overlooking a square.

I noticed that too. The same poster asking for dates of family members' births?

I've got a big dog who will eat you alive if you find out where I live!

I'm sitting in my back garden with a glass wine, We're on a corner, quiet road to the front and side. I can hear children and a bouncing ball and I think some scooter activity to the side. Other than that lawn mowers out in full force on this gloriously, warm, blue skied sunny day

Cossy Sat 25-Apr-26 18:23:50

We are at our lodge/static caravan in St Osyth this weekend, we have a really quiet pitch so I can hear birds singing, a couple of dogs barking now & again, someone grandchildren who are visiting playing, one car parking and two people on their constitutional around the whole park (which is a very small owners only) twice. It’s glorious sun and I’ve spent much of the day on our tiny, but sunny deck x
