is a load of codswallop, and far too political for this website!!!!

Totally inappropriate.

I thoroughly and strongly object!

wotsamashedupjingl Sat 24-Mar-12 10:19:11

Oh yes! They've only put it on the front page of the site.

I wonder why!!!

wotsamashedupjingl Sat 24-Mar-12 10:20:00

You have to click on the Gransnet banner to see it.

Greatnan Sat 24-Mar-12 10:28:36

I had never thought of clicking on the banner - thanks for the hint.
I don't mind the advert.

glammanana Sat 24-Mar-12 10:33:13

It will bring revenue into the site will it not wotsa ? surely that is a good thing ?

wotsamashedupjingl Sat 24-Mar-12 10:45:46

Ok. So when is it going to be Boris's turn?

They ought to be even handed.

Anagram Sat 24-Mar-12 10:45:58

I hope they're going to balance it with a Vote for Boris banner soon! grin

Anagram Sat 24-Mar-12 10:46:55

Oops! Great minds, jingl....!

wotsamashedupjingl Sat 24-Mar-12 10:53:55

This site ought to be non-political, apart from threads.

This site is getting far too left wing. (And I vote labour) (though wouldn't vote for Ken for London)

Annobel Sat 24-Mar-12 10:54:31

None of my business - I don't have a vote in London; but should we be seen as overtly supporting a particular party?

wotsamashedupjingl Sat 24-Mar-12 11:02:18

My point exactly Annobel!

Anagram Sat 24-Mar-12 11:09:43

Quite!

Greatnan Sat 24-Mar-12 11:10:25

Does accepting a paid advert imply support for the advertiser?
(I don't support Labour, they are far too right wing for me.)

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Sat 24-Mar-12 11:16:27

Rest assured that Gransnet is - and will remain - completely apolitical but we do accept advertising from all political parties. You can read more about our advertising policy here www.gransnet.com/info/about - but do note that when the main political parties place advertising with us, we offer the same coverage and rates to their opponents.

Anagram Sat 24-Mar-12 11:19:11

Thanks, Cari.

Over to you, Boris!

Greatnan Sat 24-Mar-12 11:22:02

Osborne needs to clarify his position - this is possibly the best forum for him to reach pensioners.

wotsamashedupjingl Sat 24-Mar-12 11:46:57

I have sent an email to Boris, and one to his administrators.

smile

Anagram Sat 24-Mar-12 11:55:12

Good thinking (and acting!) - thanks! smile

Carol Sat 24-Mar-12 11:58:28

Greatnan agree with both your last two posts smile

kittylester Sat 24-Mar-12 12:12:11

Advertising is one thing, appearing to support a particular political party/persuasion is another matter entirely. I think political adverts should be avoided entirely.

Carol Sat 24-Mar-12 12:16:05

That looks like a Gransnet endorsed advert - you can hardly miss it. Personally, I am happy for it to stay as it fits my own view, but I don't think all Gransnetters would be happy with that, unless all the other eligible parties could also advertise - BNP anyone???? Uggh!

jeni Sat 24-Mar-12 12:31:32

I demand parity for the vjp!

Anagram Sat 24-Mar-12 12:33:26

Me too! (But I don't think we've got a credible manifeto yet - things got a bit out of hand at last night's party meeting....

Annobel Sat 24-Mar-12 12:34:03

SNP anyone? Plaid Cymru? .........

Anagram Sat 24-Mar-12 12:35:44

I notice no one's rooting for the LibDems.....
