As you know we will be celebrating our first birthday on 5th May - and to say thank you for making it a really special year we have put together a fabulous goodie box as a gift for one lucky Gransnetter.

All you have to do to enter is post on this thread telling us your favourite Gransnet moment from the last year.

The prize includes chocolate from Montezuma's Great British Pudding range, a bottle of No.3 gin and some fabulous books and the winner will be picked at random on Monday 7th May.

imjingl keep posting, can't have enough of a good thing. grin Every time I think of a most memorable moment, I think to myself, hey, there are far too many to recollect. For almost a year, I've had the best ever fun. Far better for the health than booze, weed and wicked, wayward sex...hmm

My highlight was the first time I posted (as I had never joined any of these chat sites before) and someone replied to my post - knowing that someone was actually interested in what I was saying!! I dont feel so "odd" now I know that there are actually other like-minded and like-aged people out there who think the same as me. Thank you Gransnet.

Woody Well said smile

I agree with lots of others I've found the site enthralling at times and so so funny at others.. can't really pick out one event... its just so nice when people respond to what is sometimes a big worry and to have your fears allayed is just great..

I very nearly missed that hallowe'en party.

Just went to change my name to a ghost-y one. Did the usual, and then couldn't get back in again! shock And what's more, Geraldine was in a meeting! Somewhere else, would you believe! hmm

Blind panic!

Was alright in the end though. smile

I love gransnet. It cheers me up, entertains me, needles me sometimes, and stops me from ever being bored. What I've really enjoyed has been getting to know all the different characters who contribute so freely - whatever the topic, and how their personalities shine through. What (who?) I love most of all though, is Jingl! She is brilliant - I think she's actually on the payroll! I love her sense if irreverent humour, her sharp wit and her willingness to say the brave thing. Long may she continue (and if she is on the staff, give her a raise!).

glassortwo Fri 27-Apr-12 20:02:56

I love you all..........but I really love jingle grin

whenim64 Fri 27-Apr-12 20:09:42

Jingle is the Simon Cowell of Gransnet! She always says what many others are thinking but wouldn't DARE!! grin

Anagram Fri 27-Apr-12 20:22:04

No! Not Simon Cowell!!! shock (Gone right off him since reading about the biography)

glassortwo Fri 27-Apr-12 20:44:29

Bet she doesnt wear her trouser under her arm pits, she has more taste grin

Anagram Fri 27-Apr-12 21:42:53

Lovely thread. So many moments. GN has helped me to feel a lot less lonely over the last 9 months and given lots of laughs. The best one has to be though, the thread started by Jingle on whether or not to give her daughter a pelvic floor strengthening device for Christmas and if so, whether it should be gift wrapped and given along with the rest of the pressies with the family gathered round the tree. Had me giggling helplessly for quite a while. Can I find it to post a link? Nah! Cari darling, help! Where is it?

whenim64 Fri 27-Apr-12 21:54:21

Is this is Jess? I was having a read of some old threads a couple of days ago, so I happened on it then grin

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Fri 27-Apr-12 22:43:10

Ah thank you glass...almost time for bed. And the wee one is snoring sweetly : ) x

imjingl Fri 27-Apr-12 22:47:15

Picture Cari cross-legged on her bed in her jammies - gransnetting on her laptop. smile

imjingl Fri 27-Apr-12 22:49:39

glassortwo Fri 27-Apr-12 22:50:24

glassortwo Fri 27-Apr-12 22:51:19

Why you been out in the cold grin

nanachrissy Sat 28-Apr-12 07:33:24

Jingle for Head Girl I say! What larks!!

Gally Sat 28-Apr-12 07:59:38

Nanachrissy I second that. I always imagine Jingle as a St. Trinians character - short, gym slip up to her a...e, wild hair, hockey stick waving in the air and rampaging through GN headquarters causing chaos (sorry Jingsgrin)

whenim64 Sat 28-Apr-12 08:09:10

Jingle you do provoke a lot of conversation and speculation! grin

I picture Jingle as a 60 something, well-dressed, slim and very correct-looking woman with a mischievous glint in her eye, who sees the possibilities of some wicked fun in everything around her, living in a village where the people she comes across do frequent double-takes.....'did she really say that? No...she doesn't look the sort!' grin

Notsogrand Sat 28-Apr-12 08:10:33

I always imagine Jings as a fairly traditional and conformist looking lady whose appearance lulls people into a false sense of security grin
Way to go Jings!
