Emoticions ...can we have some more?

Oh Jacey - the thing is, I don't really think TechHQ can do both. So it's down to choosing one or the other. I would like a temp. Olympics symbol, but if it's down for either / or, then it has to be the MOON for me, because it is ever present.

If you have inside info. that a temp. emoticon can be provide AS WELL as a permanent one then great, otherwise..............let me know.

Isn't there any way that we could design an emoticon, using a grid with the right number of pixels in it? Like tiling the bathroom. I suppose it is not just the graphic bit, it is linking it in on the site and so on ......very technical.

I've tried what you suggest, Elegran, but had no success! It seems we can't import emoticons either, they don't work (you can do it on some other Forums).

Josie, I think we (including me!) really do need it made even clearer!

Are you saying that any emoticon we choose for this six-month slot (until August) will be permanent, and that any emoticon we choose for the next six-month slot (Sept - March-ish) will also be permanent?

But if we chose an Flag or Crown emoticon until August it would only be temporary?

Ana my understanding is that only ONE emoticon will be possible to be provided by Tech - Perm. or Temp - In any one 6 month period.

That was my understanding, too, Butter, but it's the Perm/Temp issue that's got me confused now!

I talked to DH about this. He seems to think that once the 'code' is written for one emoticon and the appropriate 'gif' (Graphic Image Format) attached, then it should be a very simple matter to add any number of emoticons, providing you have the gifs. That's what I understood him to say anyway. So I don't really understand why it's such a problem for tech unless mumsnet/gransnet is running on absolutely minimal technical support. I guess that must be the ultimate problem, except that there are emoticons up there already so what's the big deal about adding more?

Sorry. Just don't get it.

Did wonder about temp emoticons ...we had a shamrock, rose and dragon didn't we? so a temp one over jubilee and both Oympics can't be impossible??

Then if GNHQ are talking about 6 month ones ...does that mean the sunshine one will disappear in August??
