Who wants to meet up (and where)?

Now that we're a year or so into Gransnet, we're getting to know each other quite well - on here, anyway! Some of us have been lucky enough to meet up with each other, and this has been relatively easy because those of us have managed it, might not have had to travel too far to do so (sorry, glass - you travelled miles and miles to have lunch with us in Edinburgh, but it was so worth it, I'm sure you'll agree)!
So, can those of us who would like to meet up, add their names to the list below, and suggest a place? Also, what type of 'meeting-up' would you like it to be? For example, would you prefer it to be more formal, where there would be lectures, or would you wish it to be lunch or, even to stay overnight.
GNHQ will hopefully become involved and offer relevant support and suggestions.

elegran that's my feeling too. Those lucky enough to live on boarders could go to more than one!

Oh my goodness, no! I cannot abide 'cliques'! I just thought it may be easier to do 'regional' to start with? But then that's up to everyone's own choices. There are no such things as special groups in my way of thinking either! I only know Gally, and numberplease - having met number many years ago, and Gally via GN. I met with Elegran and glass that time in Edinburgh. It's up to each individual what they would like to do. I'm happy to meet anywhere as long as it's not going to cost me too much to get there, or take me away from home too long or too far! When I said 'everyone' in my previous post, I was replying to crimson's mention of Newcastle/Edinburgh where absent had asked if she could join in. smile

long chatty lunch.good public transport links.
jenis idea of meeting at a motorway service stn(in another thread)for coffee/lunch on their way to a holiday sounds a good idea to start a link.
I might meet Annobel on my next visit to DD in Cheshire.

So when are any of you coming to France - forget the Med and the Dordogne, come to the most beautiful part of the country! (But bring your walking boots!)

jeni Sun 08-Jul-12 12:45:22

What's walking?confused

Greatnan Sun 08-Jul-12 12:49:25

For you, jeni, I would hire a wheelchair as I did for my sister.

I know that lady - (*glass*)! Lovely photo, jeni. Did glass have any view on where to meet up - did she think it would be a good idea to have a regional one?

whenim64 Sun 08-Jul-12 16:27:53

susiecb; If it were to be Brum d'y'think it would be ok to make it in September which would give loads of time to organise; I'm away for part of August.

jeni Sun 08-Jul-12 17:03:49

She thought start with regional perhaps and work up!
Maniac and I are away in sept from 6-18th.

nanaej Sun 08-Jul-12 18:02:27

is it too late to join in ? Somehow kept zipping past the thread hmm

greenmossgiel Sun 08-Jul-12 18:19:46

jeni, I think that's the best idea, too. How does everyone else feel about that? Of course it's not too late to join in, nanaej - whereabouts are you?
At present we don't seem to have many (or any?) GN's from north of the border. Gally won't be back until September, and I'm away for the last week of it. Anyone else from around this part of the country?

Butternut Sun 08-Jul-12 18:34:31

Great pic. jeni and glass smile

AlisonMA Sun 08-Jul-12 18:43:46

I've looked at jeni's profile but can't see the pictures, where should I be looking?

AlisonMA Sun 08-Jul-12 18:44:42

Brum is easy for me if I am around on the suggested date. Whereabouts in Brum?

crimson Sun 08-Jul-12 18:48:34

I just checked out the Museum and Art Gallery; they have a beautiful tearooms that [or so it says] does hot and cold food; it's very central, as is the station and, if people arrived at different times they could go round the gallery to kill time. Not sure what it'slike for disabled access and stuff, though. It's only an idea, though. Haven't been to Brum for quite a long time.

nanaej Sun 08-Jul-12 18:48:52

Hi I am near Guildford in Surrey!
Alison where it says jeni's pictures you have to click!

AlisonMA Sun 08-Jul-12 18:51:10

nanaej I did but didn't see them. Must be doing something wrong, is there a second page or something? I used to live in Oxshott so not far from you but too far to go now we are in Malvern.

nanaej Sun 08-Jul-12 19:05:21

Oh how odd! I just tried and saw jeni in her splendid back & white dress and with DGC etc!
Oxshott is nice..we are in Godalming. smile

Greatnan Sun 08-Jul-12 19:35:30

jeni - I love your photos with your gc. Is the one with you and glass immediately under them? And who is the other lady in the long dress?
I haven't managed to put tags on mine, and I haven't been able to load any for many months, in spite of tech trying to help.
