Idle curiosity re. blocking sender?

Afternoon all, I was just wondering what happens when you use the "block sender" option in your pm's? Obviously any message sent by the person blocked would not reach your inbox, but does the sender get a message telling them that they have been blocked?

I have never felt the need to block anyone, so it's just idle curiosity, but I would like to know!

Yes, but where is she? Until she comes back no-one will know the result of the experiment! I should have known that it was unlikely that someone from HQ would have popped along and answered the question without jingl and I behaving like a couple of lab rats!

See, if they were keeping an eye on us like they're supposed to, none of this would have happened!

Another one bites the dust? confused

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 23-Jun-14 18:00:18

No! It was meant to be a pm. I got it wrong. hmm Done it right now. Over to you p. Block me now! I'm ready!

Anne58 Mon 23-Jun-14 18:01:32

Phew, it's ok, just spotted her on another thread.

Although I could ask what the hell she's doing there when she should be here.

I don't expect Fleming nipped out for a while in the middle of finding out about penicillin, and if Isaac Newton had got bored whilst sitting under that apple tree............................

And Alexander Graham Bell would have been left just going "hello, hello?" if whoever it was that was supposed to be on the other end had just buggered off.

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 23-Jun-14 18:02:07

In yer own time missis. hmm

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 23-Jun-14 18:02:47

I'm here. Do it, do it, do it!

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 23-Jun-14 18:05:14

'ave you done it?! I've got two microwave meals to hot up you know! hmm

Ana Mon 23-Jun-14 18:06:28

I thought you'd already done that, phoenix!??

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 23-Jun-14 18:08:13

Well if she has, it has n't worked. I'm still getting through. (Although, obviously in madam's absence) hmm

Anne58 Mon 23-Jun-14 18:08:16

YES I have! Do keep up jingl grin

Now, YOU pm ME and we see what happens!

Ana Mon 23-Jun-14 18:11:51

grin

Anne58 Mon 23-Jun-14 18:17:10

Have you done it yet?

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 23-Jun-14 18:20:23

Yes, I 'ave done it. It doesn''t work! Where did you get this daffy idea from anyway? (that you can block someone) yet another hmm!!!

Anne58 Mon 23-Jun-14 18:23:20

Well, as yet it hasn't appeared in my inbox!

It's not my daffy idea, in the inbox/pm thingy it does give you the option of blocking a sender, you have a look!

Riverwalk Mon 23-Jun-14 18:25:56

If you've blocked jingl then surely she won't appear in the inbox!

FFS grin

Soutra Mon 23-Jun-14 18:26:25

I despair!!gringrin

Anne58 Mon 23-Jun-14 18:27:16

PS Just checked, and there is an option for un-blocking sender, so at least we won't have to disturb HQ from their cake eating to sort it out!

I definitely have you currently blocked, jingl so it would appear that the blocked person has no idea that they have actually been blocked.

I did wonder if it would be a bit like an email "bounce" when you get the address wrong and get a message saying that the message has not been delivered etc.

Ana Mon 23-Jun-14 18:35:57

Yes, so those occasional pervy weirdos who've PMd GNetters in the past and have been blocked could still be sending ever more desperate PMs, not knowing they're never going to be read...grin

Elegran Mon 23-Jun-14 18:38:49

My heart bleeds for them.

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 23-Jun-14 18:53:56

Oh! So, even though it said "message sent" when I pm'd you, the messages didn't actually get through?!

Well I never!

I didn't get a message saying that you had blocked me.

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 23-Jun-14 18:57:11

Anyway! We seem to have sorted things out without recourse to "you-know-who". Which raises the question, do we really need them? hmm

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 23-Jun-14 18:57:31

that might get the buggers answering

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 23-Jun-14 18:57:45

I did cross that out!

whenim64 Mon 23-Jun-14 19:07:35

Fascinating! Pavlov must be spinning in his grave at the thought of opportunties missed grin

Now I know that if I send someone a pm and they've blocked me, I won't know they haven't got it, they won't know I sent it, and I know they don't know that I don't know they've blocked me..........(just going for a lie down!) grin

JulieGransnet (GNHQ) Mon 23-Jun-14 19:08:45

All sorted? smile
