Hey GNHQ can we have a rugby ball for the Rugby World Cup please?????

Indinana Fri 18-Sept-15 21:56:30

Rugby? Is that sport? Oh well, I'm immune to sport, so that's probably why I didn't know anything about it.

ninathenana Fri 18-Sept-15 21:58:56

Well done boys!

Alea Fri 18-Sept-15 22:00:59

Whew, that final try was a nail biter!!

It certainly was

grumppa Fri 18-Sept-15 22:11:05

Good result, but I have never heard Jerusalem so excruciatingly sung as before the kick-off.

Matella Fri 18-Sept-15 22:32:41

Perfect day. Caravan on Northumberland coast. Long coastal walk. Fish supper. Rugby. Good game. Champagne. Well done England! grin

Lona Fri 18-Sept-15 22:44:23

It's not just a game.............. when those thighs start thundering down the field, well, I go all of a dither!

Down girl!

Just got back from the theatre in time to watch the highlights. Quite a grand finale. Hope they can keep it up - unless they eventually get to play Scotland of course.

ninathenana Sat 19-Sept-15 10:08:50

Lona that's one of the things that attracted me to DH when we first met grin
He used to play full back for the local team. He was still playing for the veterans in his late 40's

Learned to love rugby when I married a Welshman and son now equally besotted. Watching the first game as a neutral (!) I was not impressed with the commentary. "I think something just happened on the pitch." Surely a commentator should know and be talking about that during the game. Analysis and memories are for after the match not for chatting with your mates during the game.

The commentary was awful..OH and I both groaned when we found out that ITV were showing the games. sad Thought England were a tad nervy but, hopefully, that will improve now they've got the first game out of the way. rugbyrugbyrugby

DH and I are total rugby fans. We are season ticket holders at Northampton Saints and go to as many matches as possible. International rugby is so exciting except when England and Scotland play as we are on opposite sides. What I love about the game (apart from the thighs Lona), is the camaraderie amongst the fans, the singing and the fact that whole families attend matches including babies! The World Cup should be awesome!!

Just love the game!! Looking forward to the next 4-6 weeks rugbyrugby

My step GS was on the BBC news last night! He's nearly 12, and has played since he was 6. He now plays for the local club and also at school where they were filmed. His little sister was hugely excited to see him speaking on TV! grin

annsixty Sat 19-Sept-15 16:56:46

I saw that Lona they were very keen and enthusiastic. Good for him.

annsixty Sat 19-Sept-15 17:00:27

My soon to be ex SiL is on duty at one of the matches today. He is a volunteer , something to do with stewarding and customer services. He is a keen club man and a qualified instructor at youth level at his local club.

Matella Sat 19-Sept-15 18:00:56

I was thinking how proud those families must be to have two brothers playing in the same world cup!

ninathenana Sat 19-Sept-15 18:46:02

OMG !! What a brilliant game, a well deserved but surprising win for Japan.

GrandmaKT Sat 19-Sept-15 18:46:47

No that's what I call a game! Japan just beat the "mighty South Africa" in the last minute!!!

POGS Sat 19-Sept-15 19:37:41

Brilliant game.

They deserved it.

Last minutes too shock

Grannyknot Sat 19-Sept-15 20:03:38

OUCH!

Well done Japan!

MaggieP Sat 19-Sept-15 20:42:17

So much rugby to watch, all our family are enthusiasts! Son coming over from Dubai with his ticket to watch England play Australia soon. Air fare cost more than his rugby ticket !
I found myself deep in the Davis Cup men's doubles this afternoon with the Murray boys just beating the Aussies, absolutely riveting tennis, so had a rugby break, however watched some of the amazing SA versus Japan match.
Tempting to be very lazy over the next few weeks.smile rugby
