I enjoyed that Grannyknot made me quiet nostalgic. DH was as fit as that when I met him
[sigh]

It's great to read so many posts about GNs looking forward to the rugby world cup. I'm often made to feel a bit of a freak being a woman who loves sport. Rugby, football, cricket, etc. It's even stranger as my DH doesn't like anything but motorcycle racing. My children certainly had a non-sexist up-bringing with me watching football and DH cooking the Sunday lunch.

I feel very guilty now, I was wondering why DBH was glued to the tv, I had no idea it was even in the UK! My best friend's son is a rugby player, a very good-looking young man who I have known since he was born, but she is in despair that I can confuse Bath with Bristol and even now I could not tell you which he was in!

I am convinced that he only became a rugby player because his big brother used to beat him up when he was little! Big brother is now the smaller weedier one. grin

Chrissyh I can't stand cricket, or tennis. I'm only interested in soccer if Arsenal are playing.
I don't mind gymnastics or three day eventing but I wouldn't call myself a sports fan. My DD played rugby at county level until she developed knee problems.

jane I'm amazed you've missed all the media hype over the past few weeks. hmm

KatyK Sun 20-Sept-15 18:34:01

There I was on Friday night, all settled on the settee ready for two episodes of Coronation Street and what did I get RUGBY Grrrrr

chrissyh Sun 20-Sept-15 19:09:07

Oh never mind KatyK - it's only once every 4 years. By the way, I love Corrie too, but there was an extra hour last Sunday and half hour on Thursday.

The World Cup is dominating news programmes and, in fact, most of the media here in New Zealand ?? not much of a surprise there! Apparently there was a power surge about four o'clock this morning which, I assume, was kick-off time for the Argentina v All Blacks game (I was sound asleep) as televisions were switched on across the country. Kiwis are, naturally, pleased with the All Blacks win, but are also delighted with the Japanese victory over South Africa.

I think I have now exhausted all my knowledge of and interest in the championship.

ninathenana I don't watch tv! I record a very few series, maybe one or two per week, and watch them at leisure, so all adverts are fast-forwarded. I get news online so skim past all sports mentions.

Oh, I see now! I hadn't realised our Nonu was a man...

Alea Sat 31-Oct-15 16:31:57

Well Ma'a Nonu is playing in a black number 12 shirt this afternoon, so there is clearly maybe something she wasn't telling us.
