Don't be surprised obi nothing surprises me any more. For example you can support someone when they need a friend and they turn out to be a faux ami and stab you in the back first chance they get!

Many of us have had our ups and downs with her, but I do think GN is a blander place without her.

Most Forums are run on a commercial basis and have rules - pretending they do not is just non-sensical.

I don't think Anya is in a fit state arm wise to stab anyone. Now her second in command could get involved, if she wasn't painting her nails ready for a night out at the local Amateur Dramatics.

In case it clarifies my thoughts - perhaps I should have used 'return' instead of 'reinstatement' . There have been many threads in the past begging her to come back and I simply wanted to say that I did not see this thread as yet another of those.

If you don't like the thread then don't read it. You don't seem to realise, DaphneBroon, just how highly regarded Jingle is, and because of this some of us are not prepared to shrug our shoulders and accept an (in our opinion) unfair, high handed attitude by GNHQ.

I am not sure Jingle is or was highly regarded except by the few vociferous voices here. I have no opinion either way - I neither liked nor disliked her - she was just another poster. If she broke the rules then she had to take the consequences - she knew that and pushed it to the limit. Fair enough if that is what she enjoys, but I do not think that anyone should grumble when the inevitable happened.

Let us just get on and enjoy what gransnet has to offer.

There seem to be more than just 'a few' voices in support of jingl on this and the birthday thread.

On the other end of every post is a real person.

Firstly I liked Jingle even though (or maybe because) I sometimes disagreed with her.
Secondly what really narks me about the "rules" in GN is that they can be applied because someone chooses to take offense when a particular thread has had some hard hitting comments that have been ignored by the people attacked, and instead of looking at the whole thread GNHQ delete one comment. So someone can dish out really scathing comments but complain when you respond in a similar manner.
I would suggest a strategy. When I was deleted because of supposedly saying a poster was a member of a right wing organisation (I didn't I compared her views to that of members of the said organisation) I was deleted. I was sent the reason and my original post, so I reposted it with the name of the organisation removed and said it was because of GNHQ. Can I suggest this as a strategy? If you are deleted repost as much as possible with the words GNHQ objects to paraphrased. Sometimes the only way to deal with obstacles is to go round them!

Jingle fought my corner a year or so ago when I made a remark that was challenged by a particularly vicious member, so to me she will not be "Just another poster" - I tend to remember kindness.

I've had a couple of posts deleted simply because I'd taken issue with something another poster had said and highlighted the part I objected to.

Their posts were subsequently deleted (I hadn't reported them) and GNHQ said they had to delete mine as I'd repeated what they'd said!

Trouble is, unless they happened to have read those posts before they were deleted people would have assumed the worst about mine. I think there should be explanations given by GNHQ for deletions where it isn't obvious.
