I am behind HQ here - I think they do a difficult job well. Banning a member is a last resort and I think we have to assume that they had good reason, but have the grace not to discuss this openly on the forum, or to disclose what went on behind the scenes, which is I am sure plenty.

If we find their actions heavy handed then we do not have to stay on here.

Well of course they can't disclose what went on between HQ and jingl herself, nor is anyone asking them to.

Saying 'you don't have to stay on here if you don't like it' is missing the point.

Golly, only been aware of this thread since yesterday.

Agreed too J52. I got to know jingl and take everything she said with a pinch of salt and a smile- and there was no malice in her really. She often supported me in pms. Personally I think it is a shame she has been banned- but as we do not know what happened behind the scenes- how can we judge. If, for example, she told them to **** or words to that effect- what else could they do after several warnings.

Exactly we cannot judge as we do not know all that went on.

Nothing wrong with reporting your own post, I did it earlier today, because I wanted to make a suggestion about a thread, not going to report anyone else if there is no reason.

That is silly Anya- most Internet are NOT for old ladies at all- they all have rules and regs- and most are much more heavy handed with moderation and would have locked this thread very quickly.

Most internet Forums are run as businesses, as a medium for advertising, etc, and not really for the benefit of the members, as such. Just like newspapers.

Anya rules are just that, rules. If you or others don't like or agree with them then perhaps GN isn't for you/them?
I presume that applies to virtually any forum, club or institution.
As I said before, GN are clearly damned if they do or damned if they don't according to many of the posts on here.

Anyway, to answer those who follow the principle in life that 'rules is rules' there is another principle at work here and that is the willingness to challenge rules and authority which is embedded in some of us.

If you are the kind of person who likes to follow and obey then that might seem odd, weird, even unfeminine.

But at least we have said what we feel and perhaps, if HQ reads the quote from the founder, they might just 'Listen to users and pivot if necessary....'
