I wonder if this will work?
I can get onto the forum, but can't get into the individual threads - a strange message come up in blue.
Any ideas?

TriciaF Thu 15-Jun-17 14:37:34

I see someone else has posted the same question - maybe try again later.

Bobbysgirl19 Thu 15-Jun-17 14:58:55

The same thing is happening to me Tricia ?

M0nica Thu 15-Jun-17 19:35:53

Yes, I am another with this problem. I googled it and the conclusion I come to is that the problem is at the Gransnet end, not at the TriciaF, Bobbysgirl19 or M0nica end.

Elegran Thu 15-Jun-17 19:43:40

Same here.

Greyduster Thu 15-Jun-17 19:50:15

They asked for a screenshot of the message when I got in touch with them earlier and they have their tech people on it apparently. It seems to be intermittent with me. You think it's gone, then it comes back.

Jalima1108 Thu 15-Jun-17 20:04:47

It has come back again!

If it's at Gransnet end how come not everyone's is affected

Greyduster Fri 16-Jun-17 07:22:53

Well this morning I still can't access posts through "last day", although I can access the ones through "last hour". Hope they can fix it soon.

Anya Fri 16-Jun-17 07:31:37

Yes, it's been like that since yesterday. If you click on the OP's header post then the 'strange message' appears and you can't access. You have to click on the name of a poster within that thread.

I'm getting used to the vagaries of GN. Multiple oddities and too often the server not working.

annsixty Fri 16-Jun-17 08:29:03

Like Anya I have discovered through trial and error ,if I click on the last post on the thread I can then scroll back and can read it all.

BlueBelle Fri 16-Jun-17 08:44:09

Well I m using an iPad and everything is completely as normal so how can that be can it be what we are using ?

Bellanonna Fri 16-Jun-17 09:59:42

Same problem here. I cant get the OP title post. I was just trying to look at a thread but nobody has posted in the last hour so I shall have to wait till someone else does. Last day just brings up that odd blue statement. It's been like that a couple of days.

shysal Fri 16-Jun-17 10:04:03

This problem is currently only occurring on 'unanswered', 'Last Hour' and 'Last Day'.
'Active', 'watching' and 'I'm on' are still usable.
The strange blue page which appears when trying to access a thread is headed 'HTTP status 404. Requested resource is not available. Apache Tomcat.'

cornergran Fri 16-Jun-17 10:30:33

Still can't access through last day or last hour if I tap on the thread title, can if I tap on the name of the last poster on the thread. I'm using an iPad. It's all a bit strange! Haven't tried with the iMac so no idea if that's different.

AlieOxon Fri 16-Jun-17 10:49:37

I've got the status 404 too.....

LucyGransnet (GNHQ) Fri 16-Jun-17 10:53:41

Hello all, just letting you know that our tech team are on the case and are working on getting this fixed as soon as poss.

Elegran Sat 17-Jun-17 10:05:40

Still getting the Status 440 screen on Saturday morning. I hope the tech team are still working on tracing the fault.

Nandalot Sat 17-Jun-17 10:30:52

Well thanks to Anya and Annsixty and this problem I have discovered the shortcut for going to the end of the thread, rather than opening the thread and then going to last. Silver lining!

TerriBull Sat 17-Jun-17 12:31:42

Like Elegran, I'm still getting Status 440 screen first on lap top and now on tablet and can't access any threads, but opened this one via "site stuff" on the general forums display.

TerriBull Sat 17-Jun-17 12:34:04

Meant Status 404, Apache Tomcat, whatever that means confused

Elegran Sat 17-Jun-17 13:16:18

I meant 404 too, Terribull finger must have slipped.
All the different possible errors have numbers, 404 is one that seems to happen often, It just means "Can't show you that page, it is inaccessible". Apache Tomcat isn't a ginger tom wearing an Indian headdress, it is apparently "an open-source Java Servlet Container"

So the problem is an issue with how some GN site files connect (or vice versa) with the server that GN uses to send the website pages to us,.

devongirl Sat 17-Jun-17 13:42:24

Thanks elegran. Tbh I can't believe how long it's taking GN to fix this - I'm sure there are GNers who would have it sorted by now!

TerriBull Sat 17-Jun-17 13:56:50

Apache Tomcat a ginger tom wearing an Indian headdress, now that I would appreciate smilethanks for the explanation Elegran.
