A Badge

It's not really Site Stuff - technically - but can I put in a request for a badge? The real pin on sort. I volunteer at a local stately pile and a lot of visitors just like to chat. I sometimes wonder if they could be GNers. It would be lovely if I could have a badge. Would anyone else wear one or is it a silly idea?

I did get that it was a joke phoenix and just got a bit carried away with the idea of wearing our badges on little sashes carrying our GN bags and wearing our GN caps etc. grin

I really didn't know GN biros existed. shock how do you earn one of those then?

Jane10 Mon 10-Jul-17 21:57:49

Love the idea of earning GN badges like girl guide ones!

gillybob Mon 10-Jul-17 22:11:03

Just posting so poor Jane10 doesn't have to get the "I gave a thread the kiss of death" badge.

phoenix Mon 10-Jul-17 22:13:03

Previous posts might explain the biros,Gillybob don't think they were exactly earned, not quite Blue Peter Badge, or even Cracker Jack Pencil grin

merlotgran Mon 10-Jul-17 22:16:05

CRACKERJACK!!!!

gillybob Mon 10-Jul-17 22:17:04

I always wanted a Blue Peter badge phoenix but never did anything even remotely clever enough to earn one sad

Now if GN gave out badges for ridiculous suggestions or bad grammar I might be in with half a chance !

It's not Friday and it's not five to five.... So settle down Merlot grin

gillybob Mon 10-Jul-17 22:20:25

Oh well if the biros were just given out "willy nilly" then I'm not bothered phoenix I wondered if maybe only the "select few" were getting them wink

merlotgran Mon 10-Jul-17 22:23:08

grin gilly

Swanny Mon 10-Jul-17 22:27:18

I've got a biro - not a GN one but I've got a biro grin

gillybob Mon 10-Jul-17 22:35:52

I've got one or two myself Swanny but the much covered Gransnet official Biro must only be given out on very rare occasions to the most favourite members.
hmm

I have quite a few left...
Just saying,
Open to offers. See me at the Argy Bargy cafe (cafe?) if interested.

Mr P has a Blue Peter Badge, he can get into certain places free, but only if he has a grown up with him confused

On his CV he has his various qualifications listed, and in a wild moment added BPBH.

Only 1 person has ever asked what it stood for, and was a bit nonplussed to be told it was Blue Peter Badge Holder grin

Alima Tue 11-Jul-17 09:02:39

If there is going to be a GN badge/dangly thing/key fob/biro/scarf what will be the design on it? Only asking as the logo thingy on the GN page always reminds me of the Women's Land Army and I doubt that many of us are old enough to have served in that.

Greyduster Tue 11-Jul-17 09:15:00

What about a large glass of red and a half eaten cake?

Maggiemaybe Tue 11-Jul-17 09:58:04

I really, really want a Gransnet badge now (or a dangler). You're missing a trick here, GN!

Mind you, if I saw someone else sporting one, I'd want to find out who they are before I revealed my own secret identity....

annsixty Tue 11-Jul-17 10:55:50

Oh I want one too. Volunteers step forward please.( not me of course)?

shysal Tue 11-Jul-17 11:53:39

Another taker here. Dangler please.

ninathenana Tue 11-Jul-17 12:34:46

I'd vote for an elegant type faced GN design.
As Alima says the current logo dosen't cut it.

NfkDumpling Thu 13-Jul-17 19:09:16

Them in the office seem to be keeping very quiet! No green comments? I agree the logo definitely needs updating. For a long while I thought it was a witch on a broomstick! If it was on a badge/dongle it really wouldn't show well.

Now my life is coming back to normal perhaps I'll start doodling. I feel sure there's a lot more talent out there. A glass of wine and a piece of cake. Hmmm.
