We're thinking a strapline/sub-heading thingy might be a nice thing to have. Mumsnet has "By parents for parents" but what would work best for Gransnet?

We've canvassed the good folk at GNHQ/MNHQ who had two clear favourites from a longer list. What we'd love to know is whether you prefer one or t'other - or whether you have any other thoughts about what would work. The two in question are

Older, wiser but definitely not quieter

A bit older, a lot wiser

Thanking you grin

For Grownups - not for the Fainthearted!

(that's on a bad day! grin

Alima Tue 01-Aug-17 12:24:05

For edgy oldies?

ninathenana Tue 01-Aug-17 12:25:02

Wisdom and wit

Christinefrance Tue 01-Aug-17 12:44:55

eglantine grin it is maybe a bit "Rocky Horror Picture Show" ... but we are, aren't we? smile

Something to do with "generation" except I can't quite get there. Re-generation?
Information generation?
Conversation, information, something something..generation?
Oh well it kept me occupied on my way to the shops!

Following nina's suggestion - Wisdom, wit and warmth.

I like that kitty my favourite so far! smile

rosesarered Tue 01-Aug-17 20:44:07

I was thinking 'for fun and support' but it sounded like a lively truss.grin

Ana Tue 01-Aug-17 20:48:13

Or a musical bra! grin

Yes, I like kitty's last suggestion too.

phoenix Tue 01-Aug-17 21:03:29

To be honest, I don't like either, and mainly because of the use of the word "wiser", which I think might sound a bit off putting to mums who may have been given a lot of the current "advice" (which seems to change so often!)

Sorry to post a negative opinion, without a positive suggestion, bit brain tired tonight!

PS, that post was in response to the HQ OP, not to any other members posts. blush

Menopaws Tue 01-Aug-17 21:15:21

Still got it

kittylester Tue 01-Aug-17 21:20:23

Or wise witty and warm?

GracesGranMK2 Tue 01-Aug-17 21:35:27

I really do dislike the idea that we think we are wiser. I have your recent 'meet the author' book going round my head (it's very goodsmile) so my thoughts are around something like:

GRANSNET
'for another bite of life'

Alima Tue 01-Aug-17 21:42:54

Perfect GG. We could have a set of dentures as the logo. Sorted.

GracesGranMK2 Tue 01-Aug-17 21:45:59

grin

phoenix Tue 01-Aug-17 22:01:08

Glad that I'm not the only one who isn't happy with the "wiser" thing, I think it comes across as a bit smug, but that might just be my take on it. confusedblush

Jalima1108 Tue 01-Aug-17 22:09:04

I'll have you know that I have all my own teeth Alima
(well, nearly all, bar a couple of crowns, one missing and lots of fillings)

Jalima1108 Tue 01-Aug-17 22:09:38

I'll put my thinking cap on.

Baggs Tue 01-Aug-17 22:11:39

Is it trendy to have a strapline or something? I don't see the need and I do see the difficulty of trying to sum up something so complex and all-(well almost all)-embracing in a few words. The idea seems a bit trite to me.

Having said that, the Mumsnet one is okay.

A site for sore eyes/knees/hips et al !!

GracesGranMK2 Tue 01-Aug-17 22:59:34

1. We are not all of one generation.
2. Grans are not all pensioners with perms.
3. Even if they are pensioners they have not all descended to the female equivalent (or male) of the pipe and slippers stage.
4. The wisdom thing. If you were wise when you were young you are probably wise now. If not, probably not. It's arrogant to think it is an age thing.
5. Whatever it is could it be positive please.

I am not keen on 'another bite of life'. I am still chewing the bite.

We are not different from the rest of the world just because we've been here longer.

I felt very patronised yesterday by a representative of WEA who asked me if I'd like to learn to use a smart phone but didn't ask the 40 year old next to me! We need to get away from the idea that we are a different 'race' from younger people.

kittylester Wed 02-Aug-17 07:11:07

I'm still chewing the first bite!!!
