Penny for your thoughts...

We're thinking a strapline/sub-heading thingy might be a nice thing to have. Mumsnet has "By parents for parents" but what would work best for Gransnet?

We've canvassed the good folk at GNHQ/MNHQ who had two clear favourites from a longer list. What we'd love to know is whether you prefer one or t'other - or whether you have any other thoughts about what would work. The two in question are

Older, wiser but definitely not quieter

A bit older, a lot wiser

Thanking you grin

Alima.... no, not to do with any poster name, it's just an expression ' still alive and kicking'.
' Gransnet, for support and friendship '

I have made some lovely friends both on the forum and at meet ups. smile

'Gransnet...a slice of life' ?

In one way I think it very much depends on how you use GN.

Some people depend on it for friendship and at times solace whilst others like me use it to exchange views, but don't depend on it for any other reason.

It would be difficult to capture all the various reasons in a sound bite I think.

Yes Tizliz - good point. It's absolutely not just for grans - it's for anyone who fancies joining in - be they grans, granddads or neither.
Sorry? Am I missing something? Why call it GRANSnet if it's for anyone who fancies joining in?

I agree the current logo is rather War Time, and I like "Embracing Life".

Hear for each other (deliberate use of hear!)
I wonder HQ if you know how many GN users are young grandparents? I find GN invaluable. So many shared experiences.
I would love to join you by being a local reporter but see that the age limit set by you is 50+. I do use MN too and seem to fit right in the middle somewhere but predominantly GN suits me better.

I thought about 'Been there, done that - can advise on the the t-shirt' but it's not very snappy is it?

meandashy everyone is welcome, regardless of age and grandparent status. The majority of our users are 50-70 - average age around 61. But we have many active members who are both older and younger too. I'm in the GN age bracket and (obviously! grin love the site - as you say the shared experiences cannot be bettered. But that doesn't mean I don't also love a cheeky thread on MN daily from time to time. I think they are different enough not to be mutually exclusive but perfectly complementary.

Short and to the point! or

Grans, a bit older a lot wiser. I liked who said, well we are GRANS. And Grans can be all ages.

Olduns are the best.

kittylester Wed 02-Aug-17 13:29:35

The name gransnet is indicative of the age range of the site but we don't then want the strap line to be only about grandparents.

I quite like Mamacaz's but would like something that added a bit of 'cuddliness' to it as it's something we are good at - mostly, actually, I'm feeling a bit grumpy today so don't fancy cuddling anyone.

MiniMouse Wed 02-Aug-17 14:12:34

No, scrap that! I've just realised that the 'fasci' bit could be misinterpreted blush
