Flaming - what is GNHQs approach to this?

I apologise for being far too easily tempted into replying to the 'flamers', but I do wonder if GN has any rules that apply to such posters.

A discussion on a thread, usually a politics one, can be bouncing backwards and forwards about the topic and then they turn up. There are only a few but you can recognise them by the way they never put forward an actual political argument. The most important thing they can come up with is personal criticism of either the politicians they have chosen as their target or the people who may be making positive point about the politics of that person or the party they don't like either.

This is not discussion but a deliberate attempt to inflame the thread in an attempt to derail the reasoned argument they don't like. On many forums they would be stopped from doing this. What, if anything, are GNHQs views on this. Surely, on a forum that has created a 'non-judgemental' space in the form of the café, we should expect flaming to be kept from disrupting other people's posts?

But Anniebach I have never seen your criticisms as a "deliberate attempt to try and provoke anger", so they don't seem to fit the definition.

GracesGranMK2 Sat 28-Oct-17 13:06:41

Annie I have no idea why anyone would want to jump on this particular bandwagon at this point. I have a feeling you will be disappointed as, for some reason, you want to be seen as someone who is doing something that is, as GNHQ have said "ultimately against our guidelines".

You constant attacks on Corbyn could be described as sad, irritating or strangely obsessive but usually you are expressing a view that at least has a tenuous connection with the thread.

So I am sorry to disappoint you but that isn't flaming.

GracesGranMK2 Sat 28-Oct-17 13:07:25

Your not You.

MawBroon Sat 28-Oct-17 14:11:52

I am so glad this flaming thread is continuing to run - what on earth could we find to exercise us were it to have run its course?
There must be something more to be said on the subject? hmm

GracesGranMK2 Sat 28-Oct-17 14:26:20

I think most of what needed to be said had been completed by page 2, MawBroon but people will have their little say however inappropriate at times, won't the?. I do wonder what it is you are trying to contribute to something so long finished. However, I started the thread so I will continue to be polite and reply.

GracesGranMK2 Sat 28-Oct-17 14:26:49

they not the

MawBroon Sat 28-Oct-17 15:13:00

Long finished? confused 13.07 the last post before mine at 14.11 so not that long hmm
Some of us do other things even on a Saturday morning.
I think I was doing no more than you yourself have been doing to fan the flames of a spluttering, dying topic. But perhaps my intention will be recognised by others as ironic.

Anniebach Sat 28-Oct-17 15:22:01

Sad GG? definately not, nothing sad about speaking the truth.

So tell me, are you still enjoying all this attention or getting tired/bored now?

kittylester Sat 28-Oct-17 15:50:50

It isn't your thread though ggmk2 so actually, it's allowed to thrive, wander, die, be diverted - it takes on a life of its own.

Similarly with any other thread you, me, anyone starts. As soon as it's out there it's not yours any more. What you think of as flaming is just a detour. It happens in RL and it's allowed to happen here.

GracesGranMK2 Sat 28-Oct-17 16:03:06

I didn't think it was my thread kittylester but the question I asked seem to cause some discomfort so it seems only fair to pay attention to those who are still struggling with it. After all there is no other reason that anyone would still be posting on the thread is there.

Flaming as defined by forums all over the internet is not allowed to happen here. GNHQ has spoken - or don't such things apply to you bother.

I have nothing better to do today MawBroon, as I am unwell and 'resting'. I just hope I am wasting your time as you seem to think you may be wasting mine.

GracesGranMK2 Sat 28-Oct-17 16:03:52

bother

GracesGranMK2 Sat 28-Oct-17 16:06:39

Just realised what your were wittering about Maw. When I said 'long finished' I was referring to the fact that it had probably finished somewhere about page 2.

GracesGranMK2 Sat 28-Oct-17 16:07:09

your you

kittylester Sat 28-Oct-17 16:35:51

Not sure that Maw does wittering - which I think was a rude thing to say.

I try to stick to the rules - life is nicer that way.

Anniebach Sat 28-Oct-17 16:48:14

Maw does not witter

GracesGranMK2 Sat 28-Oct-17 16:53:03

Of course she doesn't witter - I should be flogged three times round the town for even suggesting it. How lovely that you all stick up for one another so and it isn't just getting together to try and wind other people up.

Bridgeit Sat 28-Oct-17 17:02:30

Flaming hell,Gransnutters, chilll out a bit ...... it could stop the fanning of flames .

Elegran Sat 28-Oct-17 17:18:18

Mauch mutton, byle buttoun, peelit glutton, heir to Hillhouse,
Rank beggar, oyster-dregar, foul fleggar, in the flet;
Chittir-lilling, ruch-rilling, lick-shilling in the mill-house;
Bard rehator, thief of nature, false traitor, fiend's get;
Filling of tauch, rak sauch, cry crauch, thou art oure set;
Mutton-driver, gimall-reiver, yad swyvar, foul fell thee.

No relevance whatsoever to the thread - just thought I'd add a bit of genuine flaming to the mix. As you were.

GracesGranMK2 Sat 28-Oct-17 17:25:37

I am so surprised at the level of cognitive ability shown by some posters. That is not flaming Elegran. Why would you want to flame a thread anyway?

I know why I am lying on the sofa playing with you all but I have to admit your lives seem a little lacking.

kittylester Sat 28-Oct-17 17:31:38

Very rude gg. The implication that you are playing with us is condescending in the extreme and to say that people's lives are lacking is arrogant and judgmental beyond belief. It might do you good to step outside your bubble on GN and see what others are up to.

Why, I even saw a teenage boy buying pizza in his dressing gown and slippers.

Bridgeit Sat 28-Oct-17 17:34:53

Have you all gone mad, I'm beginning to lose the plot, Ohhps sorry thread was there one????

Primrose65 Sat 28-Oct-17 17:43:05

Gransnutters
grin grin grin
I might steal that Bridgeit!

GracesGranMK2 Sat 28-Oct-17 17:43:53

It is saying it how it is kittylister. Do you think anyone reading this thread is not aware of what is happening? Why do you continue with a thread that sorted out the original question so early on? Why do half a dozen of you need to inflict your conspicuously odd behavior on one person?

Stepping outside anything is beyond me today I'm afraid. I do apologise if I don't fit the mould you require of other people. I would love my health to behave itself but isn't inflicting how you believe others should act extremely condescending in its own right?

It seems to think you are better than some kitty. I am not at all sure that is true.

Elegran Sat 28-Oct-17 18:02:47

Hmm. Six centuries of readers of Dunbar and Kennedy can't be wrong. D and K were playing too - had a whale of a time and stayed good friends as well.

Anniebach Sat 28-Oct-17 18:13:41

GG, you are hardly the person to define flaming when you don't recognise the difference between sticking up for a poster stating you were wrong to accuse a poster who doesn't witter of wittering . It's called speaking up for what is true
