I would like a small butterfly on my shoulder but unfortunately I have to take anticoagulant pills so it is a no no for me. Very sad

I recently met a woman who had some of her husband’s ashes tattooed into a feather design on her midriff. She said the tattooist simply added the ashes to the ink. I thought it was a bit strange.

Tattoo's are a preferred choice. The two I have are very meaningful to me. The first one I have on my hand is a small butterfly, which symbolises the life and death of my first child. The second is the word Mindfulness written in Sanskrit on the inside lower part of my right arm, Mindfulness is a massive part of my life and my tattoo reminds me always 'to live in the present moment'
I had my first tattoo when I was 55 the second last year when I was 60 and have never once regretted it.

No! Hate tattoos! Always told DDs we couldn't guarantee we would never find ourselves under a malevolent regime, in which case we would not want any permanent identifying marks. I'm afraid one of them got a tattoo within a week of starting her art degree, so that worked well, didn't it? Fortunately, it is on her lower back, below the waist line. She tells me it is a Japanese character meaning 'Angel', which was her nickname, but I said it probably meant 'gullible idiot'! That was 19 years ago. She says she was a bit of an idiot, but she's not too bothered. Have to add, she is the most sensible young woman, and it was the only sign of rebellion, so I reckon I'm lucky.

I can't think of anything worse. Self mutilation is not for me. I don't even have pierced ears.

My son's GF had a penis on her thigh in pale colour inks......she had apparently asked for a 'phoenix' and then been too shy to say anything. She had also been very ill with septacemia folloing one of those naval bar things being fitted, spent years on and off on hospital treatments and still went on to have more piercings. I do not understand it at all, she is bright enough got and hons. degree and yet suckered into self mutilation.

I would love a discreet one on my wrist. I even decided that I wanted, a little mouse, but due to my thin skin it is now impossible!

I think 'tramp stamp' is a foul saying. Ugh!

My eldest at sixteen came home on one occasion with a very visible tattoo displaying the name of what was to be the ' one I want to marry' for all to see .
A year later it was removed as the 'new love' objected to being reminded of his rival. Why not I asked ?

UGH how disgusting are they? Never heard the expression tramp stamp before, but I think it's apt.

Feel I'm too old now at 55. My daughter has one small Celtic knot on her shoulder and my son has a few larger ones. Think I'd best not bother now.

There's a tattoo parlour near me called Tramp Stamp. Seems he might be shooting himself in the foot somewhat.

I have left bottom half leg: autumn leaves, a trailing rose and a butterly. Right bottom half of leg: daisy chsin anklet bracelet, Christian fruits of the vine cross with scripture passage.

Back: an angel praying over s baby sleeping in her cot. An inscription above it to my late mom.
Shoulder blades have my football team badge on. The other the Christian fish with Greek writing.

Left arm, a bird flying away and our eldest Grandson name hanging on the wing. A ribbon with my 4 adult children name on, a lower arm bracelet dedicated to my late mom.

Right arm: a dolphin, the Greek flah tattoo and a Japanese blossom flower

Behind left ear I have 2 circles and a star. Oh and my husband name tattooed on my booby part. Just above that I have tinkerbelle.

When my first husband died 10years ago I wanted a tattoo but could never decide what to have. As a mad old Bowie fan, when he died last year I saw a tattoo on facebook another fan had in his memory. Its quite small and at the top of my arm so only seen when I am in my swimming costume as I never wear sleeveless tops. I love it and couldn't believe there was NO PAIN, whatsoever. I really would like another but my new husband isn't keen and as mentioned by others he jokingly calls it my tramp stamp

Absolutely not for me! I see some tattoos in the health club changing room and I've yet to see any that I think look attractive. I know it's "each to her own", but don't people think about wrinkles? (Wrinkly tattoos are not a pretty sight!)

I’m getting one for my 70th. A friend is a talented tattoo artist.

Havnt got one, have always disliked them, but to my surprise have been playing with the idea of a tiny one and have even looked online at options but dont like pain so might well not go through with it.

In my last post I was not implying that the judgement made is necessarily a bad one but simply that it will contribute to the initial opinion that others come to.

I have a small one running across my wrists. Of a dandelion with it's little seeds/fairies (whatever they're called) coming loose & flying away. Had this done just a couple of years ago after 2 of my daughters flew the nest ( a tough time for me)
Just a discreet one but am so pleased I braved it. Wasn't that bad an experience in the end ( & yes I would do it again!) ?
