Lengthy 'cut and paste' - acceptable or not?

It would be helpful for GN to make a decision on copy/cut/paste. GN should make a clear decision about whether they are allowed, and put a maximum length.

Personally I think it is much better to post a link- with perhaps the most saillant point/s 'cut and pasted' up to a maximum word length. The recent pages and pages are totally unacceptable imho, from either side or anywhere in between. Thank you.

Whereas I never had any private correspondance with GN, nor reported any post or anyone. Just simply asked for clarification - and look what happened.

MawBroon Sat 18-Aug-18 15:01:00

What did happen then?
Other than Iamnotarobot perhaps selecting the most inappropriate name at the time (but who is to judge? Jingl came up its some corkers at regular intervals) and posting a lengthy cut and paste without any idea that this was frowned upon -and who has never done a cut n paste?- finds herself immediately under suspicion and at the blunt end of the unfriendliest message I have ever seen on GN.
Entirely by coincidence Jura requires GNHQ to rule for or against cut n pastes and suddenly the goalposts are changed without warning.
We are always told by GNHQ to give posters the benefit of the doubt and posts containing the “t” word or any suspicion thereof are deleted sharpish and yet GNHQ jump to some outlandish and unsubstantiated conclusion and the poor woman (rightly) decides that perhaps GN is not for her.
Beating oneself over the head with a wet kipper might indeed be a more pleasant way of passing the time.
Not a great day in the annals of GN was it?

did you give it to me? And yes, it was entirely coincidence - but you still jumped me like a ton of bricks- you and friends- and somehow made GN's response my fault and responsibility. Did you not.

I'd say not a great day in the MB and co annals either, for sure. Over- out.

Not much point in hanging around for an apology. BoJo eat your heart out.

Bridgeit Sat 18-Aug-18 15:22:42

Is there an ongoing dispute? I don’t understand last couple of posts. ?

kittylester Sat 18-Aug-18 15:35:40

And what is it to do with Boris!

MawBroon Sat 18-Aug-18 16:05:02

Is that a —not very— subtle way of bringing it back to Brexit?gringrin
? ? ? Ducks behind sofa!

lemongrove Sat 18-Aug-18 16:20:56

So, it’s a double whammy from Bridgeit asking HQ to check the cut and paste posts on a thread, and jura asking HQ to ‘clarify’ the cut and pastes i.e. are they allowed.

This has resulted in one poster leaving just as they had arrived, another poster thinking carefully about is this forum for them and most of us perplexed as to the rules, as
Various posters over the years of all polititical flavours have done this.
Very strange.

lemongrove Sat 18-Aug-18 16:23:05

No point as you say jura in waiting for an apology ( you must be joking!) You started this thread didn’t you?

lemongrove Sat 18-Aug-18 16:25:00

Since HQ have spoken there is no point in fighting it, but if they read this thread, they will see our views on this new rule.

rubytut Sat 18-Aug-18 16:32:46

I do not understand why adults on a forum need reporting for anything. Why cant you ignore what you do not like, this is so petty "telling on people".I have been on GN for about a month and have decided it is not for me.

Jalima1108 Sat 18-Aug-18 16:46:53

It's not always like this rubytut - stay and find out.

Bridgeit Sat 18-Aug-18 16:55:58

Lemongrove, i did not ask a cut & post to be checked, I queried a new poster & their chosen user name & the coincidence of it.
HQ must have had some concerns or I would have been told in no uncertain terms if it was otherwise.

Bridgeit Sat 18-Aug-18 17:06:13

I beleive someone’s idea of a little light entertainment has backfired, if I am wrong then I will be asked to leave & will happily do so.

Jalima1108 Sat 18-Aug-18 17:18:05

I am beginning to feel like a mushroom.

Bridgeit Sat 18-Aug-18 17:19:35

That’s not a bad thing Jalima ?

Jalima1108 Sat 18-Aug-18 17:21:46

or rather DH's definition of one.

jura2 Sat 18-Aug-18 19:05:33

yes Lemon No point as you say jura in waiting for an apology ( you must be joking!) You started this thread didn’t you?

I did start the thread- what some of you chose to do with it, has been nothing but shameful. Anyone with a tiny bit of humanity and common sense would realise an apology for the attacks and misinterpretation of my intent is in order.

As said- I am not waiting for one. And it says a lot more about you and a few others, than me.

lemongrove Sat 18-Aug-18 19:29:43

I don’t know what your intent was jura and frankly do not care much.

jura2 Sat 18-Aug-18 20:54:41

For someone who does not care much, you bleat a lot (now I would not normally ever use that word, but since it seems in common usage here on GN...Just don't comment if you don't care much, simple.

MawBroon Sat 18-Aug-18 20:59:27

But you do go on, despite the threats/promises to desist.

MawBroon Sat 18-Aug-18 21:00:44

But will just try and do as before and keep away
hmmhmm

jura2 Sat 18-Aug-18 21:49:11

Oh I do try MB, I truly do. But people like you and your faithfulls make it very difficult - it would just make you too pleased with having achieved your sad, mean goal.

So I will leave you when I am good and ready-and not jump at your shrill whistle.

lemongrove Sat 18-Aug-18 22:07:57

I don’t care much about your intent I do care about new rules being foisted upon us because some don’t like cut and pastes ( although you must like them as you have just done it on another thread.)
Faithfulls? grin

MawBroon Sat 18-Aug-18 22:16:38

^ it would just make you too pleased with having achieved your sad, mean goal^

Believe me Jura I am agog with indifference. ?
