CBA to plough through the mud somebody is trying their best to rake up, it does nobody any credit.

If someone makes a contribution to a thread stating something that they believe to be true, can that really be called "lying"?

I can't understand why the post by craftyone was deleted. It was incorrect, as following posts pointed out, but I wouldn't think it was exactly libellous.

I think saying you believedsomething to be true is no defence in law.

Libel is a criminal offence.

lucy yes it is imo. Anyone could make up anything about anyone and simply say they believed it to be true. If we post something as a fact (not an opinion) which is very negative about someone and puts them in a bad light, we should at least do them the common courtesy of basing it on some source. What is happening with the current hate fest imo is that some posters are so desperate to believe anything bad about MM that they half hear/read something, employ no critical faculties whatsoever as to the possible veracity of the ‘fact’ and post away.
The stupid post about the ‘marriage’ to JG fits this bill as well. The idea that MM’s wonderful sister for starters wouldn’t have fed on that story if it were true is risible.
