Are you a longtime lurker? Love reading our threads but have never actually posted yourself? Then this is the week for you!

Simply say hello here, or post on one of our special lurkers’ week threads (which will all be listed here over the course of the week) and you could win one of our special prizes just for joining the fun.

What are the prizes, you ask? WELL <drumroll> we have an assortment of glorious goodies, from a limited-edition collection from Look Fabulous Forever, to a £50 voucher from the gorgeous jewellery retailer Merci Maman, from brilliant board games from John Adams to champagne glasses from Prezzybox and a year's supply of ebooks from Boldwood Books - and more! (Did we mention the money-can’t-buy, limited-edition Gransnet tea towels?!)

Posting is quick and easy - but if you have any questions, head over to our handy ‘getting started’ guide. This week we will also be running tips on how to get the most out of the site - and if you can't yet tell your DIL from your SIL, here's a handy guide to Gransnet acronyms.

Regular posters, fear not...as if we would leave you out of the fun. Seasoned gransnetters who extend the hand of friendship to newbies will also have their names put in the hat, just for being lovely people.

So welcome all. Don't be shy! Do post!

Say hello. Tell us what you like about Gransnet and join our warm and wonderful community. Happy posting!

And our featured prize for Tuesday. The thread drawn out of the hat was school dinners. We drew at random form all the posts from yesterday (as per, don't stop posting though!) - and the winner is grannyactivist (we love the evocative photo - so many memories! Can almost smell the dinners)

And it seemed appropriate to ask about the worst piece of advice you've been given too. Lots of learnings (the hard way)...

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Wed 11-Mar-20 09:21:57

Good morning all - and welcome to day 3. First thread of the day... What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given? Just click to post your response!

grannyactivist Wed 11-Mar-20 01:06:36

Well this focus on 'Lurkers' seems to be having the desired outcome with lots of people posting for the first time. smile Now I suggest you new posters all trawl through a few of the other threads and see where you can make a comment.

Longtime lurker, love this forum.

Hello! Love to read everyone’s comments but hardly ever add anything myself!

nessa38ish Tue 10-Mar-20 22:41:25

Hello , I am a longtime lurker, love popping in occasionally to read all the fab posts.

I'm really not put off or upset by any criticism against the "Ugly American" by a Gransnetter or anyone else for that matter. No matter where I've travelled, whether at home or abroad, I cringe when I see someone from the United States behaving poorly. As for Halloween, I've never really enjoyed it. I'm glad that other people love to dress up in costumes, but I'm not one of them.

angiehoggett Tue 10-Mar-20 21:50:53

long time lurker here ready to start posting more though!

Ramblingrose22 I live just outside Seattle in Kirkland, WA where most of those who contracted the virus lived in a health care facility. They were transported to the nearest hospital where several of them died. I think the staff at this particular health care facility behaved incompetently and waited too long before taking them to the hospital. Our life here has been impacted significantly. I belong to a ladies' group that meets monthly for lunch on the second Wednesday---cancelled. My husband and I attend a sporting group dinner on the third--cancelled. I'm a little afraid to sneeze or cough without alarming others.

I'm also a Lurker, and like some of the others who have posted I am also a daily visitor and read lots but this is the first time that I've plucked up the courage to post and I'm so glad to see so many others.
Hi everyone smile

I love the community feel and feeling less alone in worries and life in general when reading about people feeling very similarly

Rowsie Tue 10-Mar-20 18:10:54

I never realised I was a Lurker (at first I thought that was a dog but I believe that is Lurcher, then I thought it was like a stalker!) I am more likely to read than post but here is my first post; Hallo all!

Cathie58 Tue 10-Mar-20 16:43:53

Hello all, sorry to be lurker but I do love reading your posts. I have learned lots from you, so thank you!

Tea and cake Tue 10-Mar-20 16:20:34

I've posted but not recently. I am definitely Lurker material!

chrisinnorfolk Tue 10-Mar-20 16:08:16

Good afternoon. I'm a lurker and have been for a year or more. Lurking is one of those words I try to use from time to time as for some reason it always makes me smile. Not that you can use it very often! I love words.

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Tue 10-Mar-20 16:06:09

And another spot prize before the tea towel stash runs out... this one goes to paperbackwriter

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Tue 10-Mar-20 15:58:29
