Are you a longtime lurker? Love reading our threads but have never actually posted yourself? Then this is the week for you!
Simply say hello here, or post on one of our special lurkers’ week threads (which will all be listed here over the course of the week) and you could win one of our special prizes just for joining the fun.
What are the prizes, you ask? WELL <drumroll> we have an assortment of glorious goodies, from a limited-edition collection from Look Fabulous Forever, to a £50 voucher from the gorgeous jewellery retailer Merci Maman, from brilliant board games from John Adams to champagne glasses from Prezzybox and a year's supply of ebooks from Boldwood Books - and more! (Did we mention the money-can’t-buy, limited-edition Gransnet tea towels?!)
Posting is quick and easy - but if you have any questions, head over to our handy ‘getting started’ guide. This week we will also be running tips on how to get the most out of the site - and if you can't yet tell your DIL from your SIL, here's a handy guide to Gransnet acronyms.
Regular posters, fear not...as if we would leave you out of the fun. Seasoned gransnetters who extend the hand of friendship to newbies will also have their names put in the hat, just for being lovely people.
So welcome all. Don't be shy! Do post!
Say hello. Tell us what you like about Gransnet and join our warm and wonderful community. Happy posting!

Hi all,
Our last Lurkers' week big prize winner is Rainwashed - congratulations!
The thread chosen at random was What games did you used to play at school? And the post chosen at random was number 6.
We'll be in touch with all winners very soon with further details.
Hi all,
To the winners of our various Lurkers' Week prizes - we will be in touch by email asap, however, there will be a delay in sending out prizes while we adhere to government recommendations and work from home. We are sure you will understand that this is rather out of our hands in these somewhat testing times.
We will continue to run other competitions as usual, but again, delivery may well be held up by the fact that those providing the prizes find themselves in similar circumstances.
We will get everything out as soon as we can, and wish everyone well in the meantime.
We'll be announcing today's big prize winner on Monday, so keep your eyes peeled for that and carry on posting on our Lurkers' week threads - you can find a full list of them here.
And congrats to Bythebyes - you've won a book!
And a few last spot prizes to end the week with...
Well done to twinnytwin - you've won a limited edition Gransnet tea towel!
We're coming to the end of Lurkers' Week and have been overwhelmed by the uptake. A huge welcome to all new posters and thank you for your contributions this week. Hopefully now you've taken the plunge you'll decide to stay and join in more often. `
A big thank you too to the regulars who've been so welcoming and helpful to new posters.
This afternoon we've been asking what common misspelling drives you crazy?
And as a last Lurkers' Week thread we're simply asking if anyone has any fun plans for the weekend. Link here.
Have a good one!

Hi gillgran,
We're sorry to hear this tainted your views of the site, but Gransnet is, above all, a place of support and community.
If you ever have any concerns about a post, please do report it (using the report button at the top of the post you're wanting to report), or email us at [email protected] and we'll take a look for you.
I am, or have been , mainly a Lurker, with an occasional post. I really enjoyed the Good Morning thread, until recently when we received the distressful news from Norfolk.
After a few days, I really didn't know what or who to believe.
This knocked my confidence in reading the comments, most of which come from genuine, lovely people, I'm sure, BUT it has put a cloud over the whole site for me. So this is the first time I have felt able to look at this again.
I'm a Lurker but I read a lot of the info on here but I never knew there was a forum lol, but will definitely have a little look at that now.
And a quick spot prize...
Well done Cookiemonster66 you've won a limited-edition Gransnet tea towel!
Morning!
Today we're asking you if you've ever met a famous person. Add your experiences to the thread here.
Sorry, that should be s861421. I was concentrating on getting the numbers right and got the asterisks wrong.
Hello and welcome, emmauk77 and s861421* and all other lurkers and new members. I hope you stay with us!

Hello from yet another long time Lurker in sunny Suffolk this afternoon. It is actually feeling a bit Spring like, wonderful.
I too post occasionally but read and enjoy almost every day. It is so lovely to see all these new names, hopefully many will now be regular posters. What a great idea this was, was it you lemongrove? Well done.
